Do we know when the game will take place? You know, like EU4 that starts in 1444 and ends in 1821. Is there any information on this?

Start at 304 bc and ends around the end of the Roman Republic, probably around 4 bc or so which give 300 years of gameplay.
CK2 start date gets pushed back by 300 years with the Charlemange DLC, so maybe they'll push dates around with DLCs here as well. 300 years for a start is pretty good in my opinion.
I figured a game titled Emperor: Rome would at least cover the years Rome had an emperor. But hey, that's my two cents.
Imperator is a title that was used for commanders of Rome long before it became a title for the emperors.
It do cover the years Rome had many emperors, albeit only few augusts...

With some luck the time span may be expanded forward but otherwise I'm sure there will be mods that can provide this for us within a year or so of release.
More or less, Paradox games flow from one era to the next. Making a game that would start from where I:R ends wouldn't have much in the way of building your state and conquering others, Rome would have already done it.
I hope they make a spin off game covering the middle ages centered around Byzantium.
But they have two already! CK2 and EUIV. Both revolve around glorious purple and it's rise from the ashes!
I would love to have the dates of a future dlc pushed back so we can create the Achaemenid empire from scratch!
I can understand that, but it would almost be as far back as the timeframe as I:R.
