What's the point of RNG-based achievements? I thought Paradox stopped adding luck-based acheivements

It's not a secret that achievements is the major reason I play those small countries in weird starting positions. I like the achievements but I don't understand why would Paradox add achievements like Princess in the Castle, Die Please Die and Cherrypicking?

I want to get to harder achievements (I have 201/235 done) after I do easier ones, so medium ones like Cherrypicking which are completely luck-based is what's stopping me.

Now, with Cherrypicking, I know that Dayimos need very high army tradition for a possibility of generating 3-start general. Problem is that after the initial wars in the first 20-40 years, about a third of Dayimos gets wiped and the rest form strong and stable to alliances so they don't fight one another very often.
Player is at the mercy of RNG and it really frustrates me, as an achievement hunter.

Not that this directly addresses your larger point, but there's a way to get cherry picking by declaring war on Ming and waiting for pulse events to give a daimyo a three star general. I don't remember the specifics but I think there is a post in the forum about it.

It's still very RNG. It took me 10 tries and each try I run for 10 years to get that event.

I prefer RNG based achievements I can get with five restarts * 10 years vs achievements where I start the game and speed5 until 1821 tbh.
Which would include all "reach tech 32" or "get all institutions" achievements.

But I agree, RNG based achievements are annoying. I still don't have most of Japan's stuff just because they're all horrible unless you're a Japan fan and play the region multiple times (getting achievements on accident in the process).

I got all japanese achievements except cherrypicking in one playthrough. It's quite annoying to stay Shinto till like 1750 for 6 incidents and then switching to Catholic. 'Turning the Tide' (embrace all institutions as a horde) I just picked up while doing Manchu WC so I didn't find it annoying. 'Victorian Three' (tech 32 as lake kingdom) is cancer, not sure I'll ever waste my time going for that (at least with Poland I had fun PUing half of Europe)

Victorian 3 is really, REALLY easy, though. Kill your neighbors, speed 5 and never expand once you're the only one on the lake. Develop for institutions, use the rest on tech/ideas. If you don't bother even looking at events, I'm sure you could get it done in a few hours.

Die Please Die is pretty much Timurids Restart Simulator™.
I got it as Granada. And plenty of people swear by Castile. Tumurids is probably the worst one to start as since Tumir has a rather abnormally high chance of dying quite soon into the campaign (in my experience).

Unless you mean his heir. In which case I'd agree, it's like Castile there.

Not really, you just need to wait 3 years as the Timurids. Just set it on speed 5 and wait a few minutes.

Also, you can no longer do it as the Timurids in 1.23, they’re buffing Shah Rukh’s stats.

There's nothing that increases his death chance. And besides, you have a second shot because of your heir also being bad and well-aged.
