So i started not finishing the large maps and was getting frustrated with a few aspects of stellaris and waiting for new patches or mod updates but still needed to scratch that pew pew laser itch after a nice game of sins and watched helix season 1 i decided to go back to stellaris for season 2 but for the first time decided to play on a small map. (my first time ever trying small btw so this might be normal on small maps)
Its 2255 and 9 months and the first war where declared.

whats the longest anyone has gone (from game start to what year without anyone declaring war) has anyone reached 2400? or would that just not be possible? in my game because of the amount of d-fens pacts it was finally a federation who declared against a fanatical purger that broke my streak :(

My current game , 10 empires , no FE on a medium map , I was able to make it to 2285 before the first war broke out.
I was shocked that it took that long and was by far the longest stint without war I've seen in Stellaris

I think the fewer races really avoided border tensions and I got lucky with empires having complimentary ethics

wow - 10 ? i make it out i use the mod for double AI and double FE i like loads of tiny empires battling for ages before the medium and large ones form thats why my galaxys are so hectic but even with the tiny galaxy i had 35 AI and 2 FE and it took 50+ years. i wonder if i start up a 1v1 with 2 FE and sign a non agression early on could we make it all the way to the war in heaven before having to fight?

If your goal was to make it all the way to the war in heaven without a single DOW, that would be the tactic to use.

Personally I like fewer empires in Stellaris because they become more fleshed out to me instead of just raw stats.

I made the cardassian union and Vulcan empires from Star Trek in a previous game and really found myself role playing as the two nations slowly marched towards war against one another.
If there are 30+ empire, I find it just becomes a fog of indicators and I don't really care about the state of the galaxy past who my immediate neighbours are.

But to each there own :)

Is there a particular reason you want to avoid war to such a late stage of the game?

no was just curious to see if anyone ever went pacaficst and then ended up with a 200 year galactic peace or something similar.
i totally agree that too many AI is a wall of stats but i find with too few and the IA's bonusus if the galaxy is empty with loads of room to expand the AI can outpace me
