Offtopic question, but I never played with inflation (except in the beginning) because else the AI is just a pushover.
Is playing with inflation actually good to keep the player in check or does it still just brings the AI down ?

I almost count playing without inflation as a cheat, since inflation is a very good way of keeping the player in line. But you can of course have your own rules for how you want to exploit the lack of inflation. In the long term, it's very likely that the AI will not tech, potentially crippling it against the player in the 1650s and onwards.

Well i play mostly with inflation, but now i plan to make a play without it, and see what happen. If AI will be better, then i think i will play without inflation mostly(unless mp - but for reason i don't have time to mention, i don't play MP - let's say it is kind of lack of time). If not then well, we shall see it. It is like with AI being on low agression possibly - if AI is on low agression, it is more likely to be hard enemy, and on high agression it usualy crack into pieces. But not tested it...

The AI always performs quite well in my games, they are never bankrupt and pose a challange if a country manages to form a small block.
Austria is always reckoned with, they field quite easily around 80k during 1600 from just their base country.

Dear lord. My mind is blown.

Edit: Some of those numbers have to be made from mods. 60 magistrates/year? Come on.
I think pretty much all of them are from vanilla, in some cases older versions of it, which is where the inflation records comes from

at one stage the ai never disbanded its army or navy so when there income could not cope it collected silly amounts of inflation, sadly now they have fixed this with the ai disbanding its army to often for no reason instead (typical paradox fixing really, going from one extreme to the other)
