Victoria 2. Just love the POPs concept.
Most polished from what I've seen so far is EU3, but it has so many expansions! With expansions Victoria 2 would be amazing

I'll be the lone stranger and cast my vote for HOI3 and it's expansions.
Sure it had birthing issues and still needs a little extra lovin', but it's a hell of a game with some real nifty concepts. I've been playing it, off and on, since release day and still enjoy it lots.

CK, for its great approach to dynasties. Never really got into any HOI game, because i am no warmonger really. EU III is a nice game but only mods make it a great exprience. Vicky I+II are nice games but somehow they already have the winners and looser too muc in place, and variety of games is close to HOI..not much on the grand scale.
I also want to mention For the Glory here which sadly didnt get the respect and success it deserved. Its a great game if you want a rather historical experience without being too limited.
Rome isnt bad too, especially with Epigoni mod, or abandoned ones like Imperium...the problem i have with it is that the map setup of the ancient world just isnt balanced as good as lets say in CK or EU III. So you are either doomed to die or go on WC. Dont enjoy that too much.

EU3 mostly because of what it became but also from the start for the flexibility and different exeperience depending on your starting nation.

EU III is, indisputably, one of the greatest strategy games ever conceived. Where else can you load up a game as the collapsing Byzantine Empire, survive for four centuries too long, and fight colonial wars against the Kingdom of Pommerania?
My other favourite (of 3 games I've playes; sorry CK) is definitely M&B. Brilliant RPG, good foundations, great freedoms. It's a well-rounded game with a perfect setting for the genre, and pretty addictive to play.

Victoria Revolutions+VIP. Such a flawed game, but at the same time more perfect than any other game I've played. The depth is amazing, the flow is smooth, and the historical persnicketyness is awesome.
