I wonder what is the hirstorical basis of Austria getting a mission on Venice right away? Austria was really never involved in Italian politics until much later and only got Venice with The Vienna Congress after the EU timeframe.

I'm guessing it is randomly generated from a list of Austria-only and generic missions.
If it's the same as EUIII, it seems an Austrian specific mission. I don't think it's justified, considering Austria and Venice were at peace or allied during the whole timeframe
Isn't it the mission Austria gets to take north-eastern Italy? and they help themselves to a few other Venetian provinces whilst they are at it? Or do we know for sure that it is a mission against Venice specifically?
In Quill's playthrough Austria somehow took Venice itself but the Republic somehow still exists. I don't know how they were able to take the capital without fully annexing...
Yes, in EUIII Austria has mission on those provinces and gets core on them. I wonder why this mission exists at all...
Paradox probably added it when coming up with missions for Austria. They probably looked at history and went "Hey, Austria ended up with Venice, that would be a good mission for Austria, theres no reason it shouldn't try and gain control of such a rich province."
venice is still an island correct? if so then as a player i wouldnt worry about austria to much(well id worry about them but atleast your capital should be safe
I don't like this at all. I don't want to keep looking at the map, and every time after 10-20 years Venice is gone and Austria blobbed unless I personally play Venice. Venice was wiped out in Quill's timelapse video as well.
And also, in the multiplayer event, the Austrian player got a mission on Venice.
If anyone should be intervening in Northern Italy it should be France, and Austria should probably get a mission against France if that happens.

Even without the country-specific mission they're going to get a generic conquest mission on them eventually, since Austria only has borders with 2 non-HRE countries, and the HRE bonuses are going to mean that Austria probably wins 
The basis of the mission is that eventually (in about 300 years) Austria takes advantage of the declining Venice and conquers it. Giving them that mission from the start really messes with the balancing of Italy.
In general it seems like the Italian wars situation needs to be improved on greatly, Naples seems like they will always take advantage of Aragon and steal Sicily from under their noses because Castille is so aggressive to Aragon. Naples shouldn't start out with cores on Sicily, they were split a century before.

Austria seems to be a menace in every instalment of the EU series, while in reality almost all of their expansion was due to diplomatic-dynastic relationships rather than conquests. Austria should be the power to keep HRE and Italy full of OPMs, opposing France and other expansionary states, not the one to annex them, and if it does the latter it should face a reaction of the HRE, i.e. loosing the Emperor title and fighting with the elector-led coalition. If Austria is attempting to quickly grab Venice, other powers should react, but in 1444 game reality there might be no one there strong enough and willing to teach them a lesson.

The Austrian mission should only happen if France has holdings in Northern Italy already. This prevents it form happening to early
I don't think it should be a starting mission for Austria, that's just unfair for Venice. The missions for Austria should be royal marriages and alliance buildings for the most part, as others have said they didn't gain all that land through free cores.
As said before, I believe that the only big boy who should have missions on Italy is France, if they manage to achieve them, other greats powers should have a mission to free Italy from France, (the Habsbourg, mainly, and if Spain is not Habsourg, it should still have this intervention against France mission).
I love how you were ignored when proving that peoples' assertion was false.
But, to achieve this France (don't kill me) would need to be buffed.
