I think my humor detectors went offline ... Are you saying that with GA difficulty with the Glavius AI mod that AIs should have stronger than 53K fleets by 2270?? Seriously?

Heck I thought I was doing at least "OK" in my current playthrough where, I believe, I had 20K fleets around that time :)

Devil's advocate: Based on a screenshot I did have the resources where a larger "desperation" fleet could have been assembled. Combine that with better play than what I am likely capable of and maybe really good players have a shot. Then again this is GA and not Ensign :)
He said, on GA, at that time, the AI could churn out 140K. Bear in mind that GA has huge bonuses to Naval Capacity and economy. And since AI's economy has seen a lot of improvements in the mod, they can, especially with huge economic cheats/bonuses they receive on GA, reach that high of Fleet Power.

But he usually tests/plays in Ensign (if the AI is competent on Ensign, it can only be better on higher Difficulties is our motto!), so when he shows me pics of fleets at around 2250s-2300s, they're around 30-90K. Maybe even 100K. On Ensign! (I love that the AI can be challenging WITHOUT cheats, meaning the AI is very well capable to work without any aid.)

Those numbers sound wrong OR at least foreign to the sorts of game settings I normally use. What sort of initial game settings are these games being played at that can support 100K fleets in just 50 to 100 years of playtime for a standard [non-advanced start] AI with no cheats, bonuses, scripted events, etc. to help it along??

For reference I play on small galaxies [400 stars], 2 FEs, 2 Marauders, 12 (max) standard empires, habitable planets 1.0, ... While I'm confident that I play poorly I have a hard enough time [with war losses, starbase & outpost building, etc.] getting 20-30K in 100 years. I have a difficult time believing the AI does 3-4 times better than I do without something going on ....

I had a similar thing happen to me with a devouring swarm. Didn't even have time to establish any defensive pacts.

Was such a great start, too. Found the crystalline leviathan, the sentient planet, and a living metal deposit. Started establishing a pulsar star bastion, but that obviously doesn't matter when I didn't even have FTL inhibitors yet so they just ignored it.
