Hi,

I'm about to set up Biorobot production, but I'm wondering whether it's actually worthwhile :s Other than not dying, I presume they otherwise behave just like regular colonists, so they need a place to live etc?

Do they not complain about working during the night or working outside? Are those their advantages? Are they not affected by sanity?

Thanks for the reply! I did read that though beforehand, I was wondering if there was more to them, but perhaps not. I'll not make any biorobots for now as I do need to expand my colony. Thanks anyway!

I've done a few of them in my last game. They are electronics expensive though and electronics is harder to get since you already use you rare metals to get money with your shuttles.
I would add biorobots can turn unspecialised or directly be scientific botanist and every other profession. Which turns them very useful if you want for example to have your research facilities or crops working fully with no interruption cause people become old then die leaving empty spots everywhere in your colony facilities.

What's interesting is you don't really have to create buildings to improve their comfort cause they will not make children anyway so you can create fully specialised biorobot domes with no humans.

If you manage to snag the Printed Electronics breakthrough, they require metal instead of electronics. Much more manageable.

The should certainly NOT start with flaws and education should be able to be chosen upon construction "pre loaded engineer for example"

That you need to save that blueprint and then sell it to all the lonely blokes back on Earth? Once you start doing that your money worries are all over.

Them getting flaws is annoying though. About 10% of the biorobots I built in my last game got the idiot trait. Did you just not finish building them or what? I don't want idiot robots, don't build those ones!

They are superior humans. Currently one of the biggest problems that have no easy solution (if one at all) is too much babies. They produce none thus it's a win! The fact they won't die and you can make them on demand is ever better.

I like the randomness in the game for humans/biorobots/techs/terrain.
I would be fine with something like turning back biorobots to factory to get rid of their bad traits, like the game is making it possible for humans but the fact they have flaws and you don't know what you'll get is what's fun.

Biorobots are roughly the same as humans; they need food, water, oxygen, and sleep (from what I can tell on the last three) and like having their interests met, but they don't grow old and don't reproduce. This would make them much more ideal, but you can't actually control anything about them during the creation process; much like how everything about the "clones" are random (and in the case of clones, they don't even have to look similar to any of the other colonists to signify they're clones) you can't do things like say "I want you to build a female frame with advanced research programming" or "mass produce biorobots with a male frame and upload a basic programming package. I'm not sure what I want them to do quite yet" since their traits and specialization (or lack thereof) is random. With clones, you can at least say that you can set up a disposal dome for any you don't want (ie, get rid of clones of one gender to prevent normal biological reproduction or just dispose of idiots, etc) and that they don't require expensive resources, but that's about it.
