A frequent problem when i'm playing with minors/medium countries against allies, is when UK sit their fleet on strike force on a large region, and i can't overcome it.

What are a cheap way to increase my naval supremacy? i noticed ships on "strike force" have great impact on it..

the type of ship make difference? capitals or screens? i can just spam low level DD's to counter it?

The size of ships, the number, and the mission they're on all contribute to your naval supremacy score. "Size" is measured in IC (and manpower), plus a base amount. (So, given the existence of a fixed base equal to 2000 IC and the same IC scaling for all ships, spamming little ships probably gets you more naval supremacy rating thanks to "buying" many copies of that base value for a given amount of IC invested into ships.) Patrol and Strike Force have the largest effect (100%); Convoy Raiding/Escort are 50%. You also need naval intel efficiency (40%). Air superiority and minelaying in the zone add a bonus to supremacy.

See the wiki for more details.

Thankfully they at least removed that 'base' amount now. And given how manpower/cost generally progresses, I suspect bigger ships finally have somewhat better impact ratio now*. Not that it matters much, though.

Code:
SUPREMACY_PER_SHIP_PER_MANPOWER = 0.05, -- supremacy of a ship is calculated using its IC, manpower and a base define
SUPREMACY_PER_SHIP_PER_IC = 0.005,
SUPREMACY_PER_SHIP_BASE = 0,

* or maybe it's just me building overpriced screens :)
