No. It's a new thing in EU3 but Johan hasn't yet posted the details of it so I will wait for him to do so.

Of course you could always speculate... :)

EDIT: P.S. Welcome to the forums! :)

My guess is that forced union means placing your monarch on the throne. We already know from screenies that some countries can have a personal union (Sweden and denmark 1453). I assume there are benefits from having a personal union with a nation and hence “forcing” a union on a realm as a result of a peace treaty might be desirable.

Does it involve dragging a Breton duchess to the altar?

If you already are in a PU with a country, who would you do a FU :)p) on in the target country? It sounds to me more like its something to forcibly annex long term vassals as Brownbeard suggests. Of course this is all pure speculation.

Carlos I - Karl V PU will be great but truly scary if they force a FU as well.

You mean like deposing the existing monarch of an enemy country and imposing yourself as king of that country?

Perhaps its something more like say if August III of Saxony had tried to withdraw Saxony fromt eh HRE and unite it Poland, or bring the kingdom of Poland into the HRE as part of the Duchy of Saxony?

btw if the player has a personal union with another country, does the player get to control that countries policies, actions and armies?

How I understand it is a peace treaty option, just like forced vassalization/annexation/convert just this way you get military control over the country and perhaps even control domestic policies, ... Probably only for the lifetime of the monarch. I guess there would be a chance for a continuation of Forced union but it would probably cause Forced country to go into civil war over the ruler :).

Forced Unions on a 1419 - 1820 mod would be very nice indeed.

Henry V as King of England & France :D :D :D

what is a Force Union? That's a hard question, but is it just me, cause I think it is self explanatory:

Force : violence used against somebody or something that resists
Union: fusion.

So I guess it is a... fusion between two states, where one state uses violence against the other state that resists

I guess the only difference will be the name of the union that will also "force" fusion the names of the combatant states; So in the union state of United Kingdoms of France people in old UK will speak French while in old France they will speak in English. 1-0 for France in my opinion.

eh? It's just a forced personal union (our king is the same guy as your king). Of course what exactly a personal union means in game terms we've yet to find out.

It's a peace option. If you are already in a Personal Union, how are you at war with your other country in the first place?
