After taking some time away from my personal map mod for a while (around 8 months), when I try to load up the mod it no longer works giving the following error message:

"File Exception:
Exception in:
C:\Jenkins\workspace\CK2-Live-R-Steam-Windows\clausewitzll\pdx_core\virtualfiesystem.cpp, line:682. Description: Could not open file: , error: The system cannot find the path specified."

A search of the forums suggests ways to run the game without encountering this error, but these all seem to revolve around disabling all mods.

I've changed nothing since it was running perfectly well in a previous version.

I just thought I'd make a quick plea to the community to see if you can impart some knowledge before I go and try to rebuild the mod from scratch.

Which version did it start crashing on? You may need to redo your terrain map or fix it up some, something changed in how it was read two patches ago.

I assume you have map/ replace_pathed. Do you have a map/geographical_region.txt and a map/island_region.txt? Those two are the most common culprits.

Not fully sure, but it affected both my mod and the middle earth mod

I didn't have those two files. I assume that they're new! Do you know if regions need to be defined or can the file be left blank?

Any region used in events, decisions, etc needs to be defined in geographical_region.txt, but you don't need to include anything in it: e.g., world_india = { }
island_region.txt is the new name of region.txt, and is used for naval AI.

After a bit of debugging it now seems to be crashing when drawing together map logic, and it looks like the error is in the default.map file. I'm not sure what is going wrong here, has this changed since previous versions too? For those who fancy a challenge, the contents of the file are listed below:

sea_zones take a range of provinces, so need a start and stop province. If your only sea province is #11, I'd do it this way: sea_zones = { 11 11 }, and delete/comment out all other sea_zones lines.

Also, ocean_region is a list of all connected sea_zones, so ocean_region = { sea_zones = { 1 } } and delete the second ocean_region.

That seems to have worked, but now I seem to be crashing at the final 'loading graphics' stage of the loading screens. Thanks for your help in troubleshooting this so far - it's very much appreciated!

Alternatively, is there a blank template mod in existence to use as a working starting point that people can build on?
