After a nearly two year long diversion through CK, then EU2, then EU3, then CK again, then Rome (that lasted only two weeks), then HoI2 I’m finally back to Ricky again. I'm a huge Victorian period fan and I’ve only ever played vanilla; can someone recommend a really good mod?

wotcha :D

Its geared to MP since its development and testing has been through MP games, but I can't miss a chance to plug my own mod, recently renamed and released on here as the POP Improvement Project Version 1, previously GM's POP MOD.

As the overview states:

"This has been in development on the Blood and Iron Multiplayer forums for 2 years now, but the upload size has outgrew the max upload size given on that board. This mod is also perfectly playable in Singleplayer mode, for those who find the vanilla Revolutions game a bit blah, but don't want depth to the level of hundreds of deterministic events, colonial bans, an Africa without colonial claims, etc, in VIP. See the Readme files for lists of the things that make this mod different from regular Vic. Feedback here or on the B&I forum"

Its not nearly as detailed as the VIP MOD, nor does it advertise a more historically accurate game. But as my overview pitch says, its somewhere in the middle, largely refining and improving what already exists in the vanilla game. Some stuff you'll find has been adapted or inspired by VIP material, credited as such in the Readme or individual files. I personally prefer some of my POP work to VIP's, for gameplay reasons. I have added some new events and things, in alot of cases improvements have been made for nations not always played in MP that deserved a boost to be a bit more playable, or to inhibit/slow down growth/exploits. The readme has all the changes for everyone to peruse, no hidden surprises to break your game.

Some highlights in the mod (which will be getting another update soon), are that i've made American immigration something that happens everywhere, not just California and New York, i've curbed overgrowth population-wise for the top great powers to slow down POP splitting early on and thus reduce the click-fest in that regard, POPs for most major nations and several more minor ones come pre-split in 1836, and i've done what I think moderates the usually overly dominant UK in the early going.

Echoing OHgamer, more modders are a good thing for this game, and y'all are welcome to post ideas or even to submit your own mini mods for inclusion into mine, if you find it particularly enjoyable to play. the Vic MP modding community could always use a bigger audience, and the MP community more players in general to enjoy our modding.
