after spending lots of time on stellaris and hoi4 i want to play another campaign of my actual most favourite game. so far i was mostly using the achievements as a certain orientation sign (or even railroading) and very much enjoyed building highly productive industry-based cities, crazy train and tram stuff, and natural looking tourist retreats (especially on the archipelago map)

so now i'm looking for something completely different, yet still challenging. any advices?

The desert map that comes with Sunset Harbour is pretty cool.

I'm currently doing a Winter map based around an archipelagio.

You could do a map based on a different country (base it on a UK city, have fun with the narrow, tight roads)

so you probably haven't got that much space on your current map, no? are you specialising your city in any way?

the desert map definitely looks nice, i can also think of a nice tourism and leisure focused city there. maybe even some sort of las vegas or so ^^

i've also never tried a city solely focused on education, where most of the income
is generated by students (don't know though if that's possible...)

i tried once recreating my hometown (berlin) but it was quite of a task. i eventually gave up at some point because i had to download lots of assets to make it realistic and they really slowed my computer down

I was thinking about playing the complete evolution from small town to a huge city without planning ahead. For example you start with a small town at the crossing of two main roads. Roads through the town are first small, but then you have to build them larger. Later you maybe build a bypass around the town centre. Eventually low density residential houses in the town center will be replaced by high density buildings and so on. It means growing a city by permanently fixing the problems you deliberately created before.

A city where everybody uses public transport or walking/cycling is a fun and different build. You have to build a hyper efficient transit system while simultaniously discourage car use railroading them with one-way streets, but not so much that service vehicles are made useless. I used a lot of real life Dutch city planning.

I just finished a challenge where I tried to make the smallest city with a profitable busline I could. I got it at 7000 Cims.
