I think the hardest german games are those where Burgundy isn´t inherited. France simply destroys it, and once it gets all the Netherlands it´s almost unstopabble... Poland is Eastern TG and Sweden and Áustria usually remain in a manageable size, but France...
At this stage I'd prepare for future wars. You still have 40 years to make sure that WW1 doesn't catch you off guard.
You need the Netherlands for naval prowess and Ukraine for a lot more resources (grain, steel, coal) and manpower.
If you'd have to focus I'd say go for the Livonians and the Ukraine.

40 years to end the game. At best he can get some extra 10 provinces, the game is over.
Even then if it was his first game and in Ironman he did well. If you play a monarchy by all means do your best to get personal unions, many people don´t care much about that, and yet it still is one of the best way to get rid of médium and big countries. Not to mention they Always merge with your stacks and make useful troops for wars.
Specially if Diplomacy AND expansion are chosen. It´s a shame not to use all that diplo reputation.

I thought my 140% discipline as Britain was good. hmm. well maybe it still is since I wasn't prussian
I would go for the german borders of today + Austria or the german borders of 1871-1917 + Austria. You would get nice borders and it a great goal. For the german borders you need the provinces near France and if you're up to it you can also go for the bigger pre WWI german borders. There is a region mapmode that can help you with knowing which province is german.

Recruit more soldiers and mercs and you can probably win any war with that amount of cash. 300k manpower is also sufficient for big wars (but dont let it go to 0k).

Not the shape I'd want it to have XD but nice empire nevertheless. Me personal preference is to expand more into West-Prussia to attain a 1871 form. Failed it myself by a stretch of Bavaria Also by the strangest stroke of luck/ill chance Bohemia (who had early on absorbed all of Poland in the 15th century) was since the 1550's in a permanent PU with Great Britain, thanks to that they were my staunchest ally (since G-B NEVER was hostile to me since not sharing any borders and only sharing foes and rivals) and by the virtue of their union the grossly enlarged Bohemia (cut in half by my Prussian Silesia which I had stolen from them just before they fell under the spell of my ally G-B) always supporting me with powerful armies I never touched them after that.
Best moment? Utterly besting France in the 1790's making it return all of its Iberian conquests, making it renounce parts of Rhineland. Worst? Utterly losing to France 10 years later in the early 1800's due to depleted manpower, being forced to cede an entire stretch of provinces to Austria (Imperialism CB is painfull). Second best moment? Rebuilding my manpower and armies by 1815, reconquering my lost lands from the Austrians within a year and by the 1817 beating France into the ground, seizing the entire Rhineland and burning Paris to the ground.

Its actually one of the best games I played in EU4 and has quite a remarkable story. The short version is that Bohemia is my vassal and they have about -867 AE on me. By the 1780s your Empire should be much larger than this in my opinion. Bradenburg can steamroll through Europe and conquer much more than just Germany in 340 years.
