The inevitable 'wishlist for the next patch' thread is here, with a twist!
Now, instead of simply saying what you want to see, also say what you don't want to see!
Also, this thread is for the 1.08 patch, not the DLC that will probably accompany it.

I'll start:
What I do want to see:
Proper papal elections, with a College of Cardinals and the cardinal's lieges able to intervene.

What I don't want to see:
Cadet branches. I love the idea but if they put in a free patch instead of a paid-for optional DLC then it will probably wreck my saves because it will be near impossible to stop Steam from downloading it. There is a chance I would buy the DLC because I can toggle it on and off in the launcher.

What I DO want to see: Translatio Imperii mechanics between Christian empires/kingdoms.

What I DO NOT want to see: kingdoms de jure drifting out of empires the way it is poorly implemented now.

What I'd Want to See: Cadet Branches, though they'd wreck my saves as well it'd be a wonderful thing to have especially since the Jimena running my kingdom of Leon aren't the same as the Jimena from the primary branch in Aragon.

What I Don't Want to See: I'll have to say the De Jure drift out of empires, and does that even work? Because I drifted out of Hispania but it still says I'm part of Hispania, what's up with that?

What's Translatio Imperii?
Something often debated on these boards. Basically, some sort of prize for being the Catholic (or maybe Orthodox? don't know) Empire holding the actual legitimacy for being the successor of Rome in the West. To gain this, you should beat the HRE in war or otherwise somewhat gain the right politically (the HRE would trasform into Germania or something else).

Some people say that in order for you to actually have the right of creating a new non-HRE Catholic Empire you need Translatio Imperii, but I'm not 100% sure about it.

Remove the stupid OP CBs, gigantic levies and double Jihads from Muslims.

Improved Pagans with hopes of having a Pagan DLC come with 1.08.

Crusades should be better coordinated.

CK II 1.09 wishlist

1) A proper Berber culture in the West African group.

2) A proper coat of arms for the house of Wessex.

3) East Africa being tidied up and the Baqt being represented in some way.

4) Revert to the old system for de jure drifting. Huzzah!

5) Remove the new Imperial Reconquest CB from the Byzantines. It should only be available to a restored Roman Empire. Huzzah!

6) Any miscellaneous bug fixes reported in the bug forum. If you find anything amiss please help Paradox by reporting it there.

7) Give Anglo-Saxon England proper title history and Feudal Elective succession.

I think that's about it in terms of likely inclusions. I'm enjoying 1.07 so far. :)

want: slight reworking of the faction and levy system; elimination of invasion CB -OR- making Jihads defensive/reconquest of lost lands; increase in (or rather the first introduction of) sunni and shi'a mutual hostility, elimination of de jure drift.

don't want: I guess a lot of the above would go down here, with different wording :) I don't want more mechanics that expand rebellions; don't want naval battles

Basically it would mean that a French, Italian or whatever king could lay a claim to the legacy of the Roman Empire in the West, and become the new Holy Roman Empire. But they would not do this by usurping the existing HRE title - they would (if successful) grab the HRE title, insta-dejure-drift their own kingdoms into the HRE and insta-dejure-undrift Germany and the ex-Kaiser's other kingdoms from the HRE.

Think of the title "Holy Roman Emperor" as a mantle that any Christian Kingdom can claim. As a big grey cloak that can be slowly shuffled around between Europe's kingdoms and gives the kingdoms under the cloak the claim that they represent the heirs of the Roman Emperors.

Right, something like this, with the difference that as long as the extra 1.06 empires exist, I'd allow an "Empire of Germania" to persist where the HRE usually is after Translatio Imperii. Basically, the Empire of Germania would start with this "mantle" you are talking about (I like this expression).

Also, I'd leave the current HRE grey for the Empire of Germania, but I'd have some bright light silver for the actual HRE.

The Byzantine Units are used from other cultures too...Hungarians,Slavs, even Cumans use them...This definitely should be fixed...It's a serious issue, probably caused by the Byzantine Units DLC......

Agreed, though I'd knock him down to the rank of king. In the event of a successful Roman unification by the Byzantines, the Holy Roman Emperor would have lost his raison d'etre, so I'd have the decision remove the HRE and create (or usurp from the current holder if it already exists) the kingdom of Germany in its place. That way the former Emperor would still have his imperial dukes as vassals, but he'd have less power, prestige and influence and be the feudal equal to the other neighboring kings he used to have theoretical supremacy over.

It also means that Western Europe has no emperor tier, and thus it's a sort of every-man-for-himself scenario, with the restored Roman Emperor in Rome/Constantinople being Europe's only emperor-tier ruler... which is how it used to be. :)

I'd prefer that. In my opinion (you may disagree, and feel free to) both the HRE and ERE should cease to exist once the RE is reformed. They were effectively the Western and Eastern fragments of the old empire vying for political and religious supremacy over the other. If the united empire is restored, they ought to be mutually exclusive.

Cadet Branches & More minor cultures (Frisian, Cornish, Aramaic, Slovene, Slovak, etc)
Not so importantly I would love to see gaelic names for the Scottish culture, and some sort of melting pot event for saxon/english/scottish culture to produce a germanic-based culture (as in real life) with the vanilla Anglo-Scottish naming system. At the moment it is just gimmicky and doesn't even look good (Miles of Atholl?? Really??) and I personally think it has been worse since the patch.
