What would you think of a forum upgrade that would let EU4 tweets be shown on the side here?

I'm trying to get a module for the forum which would show the EU4 twitter feed on the side of the EU4 forum like the Paradox Interactive twitter is shown on the first page. By re-tweeting Johan from that account, these tweets would be shown on the forum. Would this be good enough for you guys who don't keep track of twitter?

EDIT: Or do you "demand" that we make proper forum posts for every single one?

I mean, I catch most of them on twitter already, but what you suggest seems to be a good solution insofar as non-twitter people who are interested in the information revealed in tweets go. So yes, I support this innovation

This is true. But for the sake of both you and me I think we need to find a way of automating this somehow.

What if you made a forum module that reads user Tweets and makes forum post from them in designated thread. Tweets for forum publication would need to have special code (#forumfeed or something simple in tweet name) in them to filter less important tweets and save you time for Mega Thread Editing.

It could download pictures from twitter and place them as attachments on forum.

And proper Twitter embedding for the forum, but that's another story.

I do also nurture the fantasy of re-awakening my programming skills to the level that I could make a plugin that took tweets and made them into forum posts This doesn't seem very realistic however.

Just being able to see them works fine. People can make threads for specific tweets if they want, or we can have a megathread to discuss all tweets

I don't use twitter, but I like to have all the information posted by Johan. Do what is the less time consuming for you Bjorn! So, if it is more simple for you to write a module that automatically re-posts Johan's tweets, do it!

I personally like the forum posts. In fact i can volunteer to keep them updated semi regularly if that works for you

That depends very much on the implementation of the plug-in in question.
As it stands, the one on the front page isn't very big - even if scroll-able. If it could go along the length of the page and appear beside the main forum template it would be great.
Another problem is that while tweets from Johan, Martin and the others [even Jake - silence speaks volumes ] are interesting, not all of them are related to the game being worked on.

I think either works for us - we're just happy to be kept in the loop by you guys, though I think automating them would definitely make your life easier.

Yeah I really think it is important, as a lot of us, me included have no interest in Twitter, so we miss so many of the interesting posts you only put on there.

XenForo has an API allowing authentification and posting (docs)

It should be possible to put a small script on a cronjob checking every X minutes for new twitter posts and then sending them over to the forum API.
