A historical leader/ruler option again combined with existing system for countries with no database.
Limited city population size due province size and tax.
Replacing wastelands with "normal" provinces, hardly to colonize and dirt poor though.
At last but not least no defined limit of colonists, traders... (EU3 was five, EU2 had six), better let them better calculated too.

A series of events starting around the 1640s based around the the rise of the Taft family would be pretty nice. If only because it would mean I was partially right on the whole Taft game thing.

Something very specific which i also suggested in a cancelled game's forum:

Combat:
When sending an army into a hostile province combat should start at half waytime until the target province is reached. So if the way takes 10 days then combat (skirmishes) should start at day 5 (border of the province). The more you advance the fiercer the fight becomes, the higher the losses can be. At the day of arrival the main battle takes place.

General:
- No more technology groups
- Less random event, but more consecutive event chains
- Less mechanism which are placed just for the sake of being there (hordes, ming..)
- better accessibility
- NO MORE MOVING GIANTS ON THE MAP! Replace them by abstract figures!
- NO MORE GLOBAL BADBOY! But regional/cultural of religious badboy values. Why should Russia be mad at Marocco for declaring war on Spain?

1) More then one culture\one faith in province. Heretics and etc.
2) More modificators, events, decisions x)
3) Leaders and Rulers with portraits. Better government. Something like it was in Rome, maybe.
4) :glare: Zaporozhian Cossacks needs always to be of christian faith! Not sunnism, like it was 90% of time in EU3. Although, they still can be catholics\protestants\etc..
5) More historical titles where it can be. Leader of cossacks was Hetman, not Khan. Moscovia had Tzar, not King, etc.
6) Do something better with Hordes...more historical, idk.
7) If there would be time of American Revolutions...Pleeeeeeeaaaassseeeee! Something more special...Or even, maybe, events or, huh, "relations with colonies" menu? Anyway, colonies needs special mechanics, i think. It even could be half-independent parts of country (not a big one, sure).
8) Pirates...maybe events about them too. Raids! Bases. And sometimes they can become something really dangerous even for big fleet. And don't forget about patents...
9) And there was idea about new system of explorers...but i had lost it cause auto logoff -_-. Well, it was basic on slider "interventionism-isolationism". More interventionism - more events about explorers, that could ask for donating them and than to disappear, found something, become more important (merchant, great person), back and tell people about "far countries" that could lead for many different results...Although, isolationism means more stability, emphasis on inner country problems...

Enough for today. Or if it all is really bad (or just my english :p) — enough at all.

What I don't want is having to have a CB for wars, it's kind of silly to play as a powerhungry despot who is conforming to laws in case someone looks at him disapprovingly.

It's been said but what I mainly want;

Trade system revamp, which is already underway.
Colonization revamp.
Military revamp, Paradox is going the right way with Military in CK2
Cabinet revamp, I disliked EUIII cabinet feature.

For the love of God, can Paradox make playing anything outside of Europe more interesting? It was so bland to play the Mamluks, China, or an Indian power since everything felt stagnant and debilitating even if you managed to westernize. it's silly, ahistorical, and constricts actual playable nations to about 1/3 of the world.

Mods fix most of that. Paradox don't have all the money and time in the world, it's probably best that they focus on improving the core hard-coded features and let modders (or expansion packs) add new content, alter balancing etc.

The problem is that European development and trade was shaped by its interaction with the states and empires which they traded with. This was not at all addressed in EU3, and it seemed easier to just conquer and kill everyone than interact with them. Giving these areas flavor not only makes them more interesting, but actually makes trade and colonization more interesting as well.

But that would require massive effort in the history files, missions, decisions etc. Fully fleshing out the ROTW countries would involve at least three times as much work as making DW. For EU3 there are good player mods which deal with India, Japan, the Americas, Africa and even Indonesia. Many have been compiled together into bigger projects like MEIOU. I don't think the handful of professional Paradox employees could spend as much time and effort on province borders and .txt files as hundreds of sad, lonely history nerds.

Sensible population growths. Ethnicities being represented as percentages. Population-limited army size, as well.

I think what EU3 was lacking was a deeper combat system and a much more deeper economic system.

Paradox should recycle the VIC REVOLUTIONS combat system: Not so complicated like HOI nor so simplified like EU3/VIC2. There should be more modifiers when fighting. Not just: Terrain, River Crossing/Amphibious Landing, Leader Bonuses. More troops diversity, etc.

Regarding the economic system, if the game is going to include the 1700's period, then the first Ind.Rev should have a bigger impact than what it had in the third EU installment.
You know, people moving from areas without industry to cities.

An ability to manually set a TAX LEVEL. Depending on your levels, you can have various effects, like more population in certain areas, less revolt in others, etc etc.

Oh, It would be EXTREMELY interesting to see what could happen if the Protest counter reformation (if anyone asks why is this, is because, at the time of the Protestant uprising, the Church was already conducting reforms due to decadence, so basically, the following Catholic reaction, would be a Counter counter Reformation :p , ANYWAY) had been brought down or hadn't fired at all. If I recall, during History lessons, one of the main reasons why the Luterans/Protestans had so much support, was because the Clergy at that time was totally decadent, Bishops being in Rome instead of their local areas, etc etc. Playing as the Papal States and avoiding this would be neat.

Im so excited for this!

Hopefully they will take some of the many good ideas from the Magna Mundi mod. Besides that, at more advanced millitary/war system would be very welcome, along with better and more diplomatic options, a more advanced tech system, more city/province improving options...

Oh yeah - and the possibility to mod pictures and maybe even video into event prompts - that could ad a pretty nice flavor to the game :)

IF there will be hotjoin etc. i think we should make a dictionary of game terms - we should think ahead, which will take of us little problem with newbs not understanding what the hell is NAP, or any other terms.

Way more provinces (around CK2's amount), dynasty importance like in CK2, and titles and holdings like in CK2.

Realistic expansion. Have the AI expand first into same culture areas, then similar cultures, then neighbor provinces... Rather than have Castille get random provinces in the Middle East or Milan get random provinces in Africa.

Perhaps CK2 and EU3 should combine in ideals and have one game be the continuation of the next as to not have them both merged (less profit if you only have one game). Sort of like having EU3 as an expansion with a different time frame and goals.

What I would like to see ?
Anything that doesn't turn the game into an endless conquest spree to stay fun.
Also less-rigged AI towards players.
