Crossing my fingers for a new research system. The old EU system, where you spend most of your budget on tech, makes no sense for the era. I'd love to see a technology system where tech improves based on what your country does instead.

A good "realistic" map with balanced provinces all over the world, instead of Europe being far more detailed. And I don't mean borders/city placements, but more province size/worth.

And all over the board more dynamic (I guess that's the best word to describe it as) stuff. Like things developing according to what you do, and no pre-determined pattern just because that happened in real life. I don't care much about the historical bits (up to a point, I want it to be believable still..), basically, I want to make my own history, not play the old boring one.
A good example of what not to do is the tech groups in EU3.

I want colonies to remain colonies (with few exceptions perhaps) and not develop into fully grown provinces (but have their own buildings, etc).

I assume he means AI which doesn't know exactly where your armies are, or your navy, or where your undefended provinces are etc.
Yes exactly this ,how would the french be able to find my fleet near Kola ? when i as Norway own all nearby territories ,and they have no allies in the area ? Ck2 fixed this mostly but i just want to make sure it doesn't come back.

i rly have to say that i am a player who wants to play as historical as possible. So i think a good thing would be to improve the KI a lot. What i normally see in a EUIII games is that france (for example) spends too much money into there army (well all of them do so). Okay maybe thisway it gets difficult to crush them early on but i would like to see that nations dont always spent all there money only in army but instead improve there nation.
Next point would be that the big colonizing countrys should be programmed to settle down in the areas which they rly did... why the hell would portucal have any interrest in a colony on the north american continent?! Or often Spain settles down at new england too instead of crushing maya and atzteks which would be a better dessicion for them always.... i mean i dont care which little iland in the carriebien sea belongs to who but just to give the KI an order of things to do which they dont have to do 100% but just a way to lead them a bit more like in history. Cause as history has shown most of those kings knew why to take the land as they did!

Well, I would like it if they read up on cultural history a bit. Neapolitan is it's own language, and while it was close to Sicilian, it makes about as much sense to call them that as it does to say that Prussians and Rhinelanders are pretty much the same

Ability to hire your vassal's troops.

Example: As Byzantine you have one of the Turkish minors vassalized and you are able to hire Muslim troops (maybe up to the vassals manpower as a balance).

Now I'm not saying it is, but think about balance reasons. I assume that they are in the same culture to allow Naples to inherit Sicily (which I think they kinda did with the Two Sicilies? Though my history isn't great and I may be completely wrong there). Gameplay reasons >>>> Pin point historical/cultural/province accuracy.

Though I haven't played Naples in a long while though, are you saying that Naples has the Sicily culture rather than Sicily culture group?

In EU3 all of Naples besides one province was Sicilian culture, and in the Latin cultural group. What it should be is mostly Neapolitan with Calabria being Sicilian (as it mostly was, and I doubt were going to get Minority cultures in the province for the Neapolitans in Cosenza) with Umbrians staying as they are, and all being in the Latin Cultural group

Oh I see, I'm not sure why it was lumped with Sicilian. Maybe to help Sicily/Naples if they conquer each other. That way they can have higher naval FL (as culture of coastal province is related to naval FL) and compete better? Only thing I can think of (in gameplay terms).

an other thing what i missed most in all EU games ( II+III) was the lack of a complex economie system. With the new trading changes u will get a bit more power over it but still too less in my opinion. Also the fact that each provinz is only producing one sort of trading good where u also have no influenz on. There should be a starting set of production in each province (which should be historical correct (for example that the main procukt in many south france countrys is wine aso.)) which should be possible to increase by buildings. (yes i want more improvements for my provinces!) Also the tax money should come from the amount of population the country has and shouldnt just be base taxed. It just should get more realistic as it was. By making such changes it would be possible 4 even not so rich countrys to grow over time and become stronger instead of always lacking behind...
The tax based on population would increase also the colony system because it becomes better to let the naitives live instead of wiping them always out. Also i want more colony events. 4 example: People are moving to the colonies which would make u loose maybe 500 prop in one of ur provinces and getting them in a running colony. Such stuff happend way back in time always!
