I would just like the AI to have a better ability for fighting a war.
Sometimes I think a bowl of mush could put up a better fight.
Been playing since original Europa Universalis 2000
Have never lost a war got WP a few times when AI should have refused.
never payed money.
just want a good fight.
over 100 WC with 60+ different countries.

Well more a interface issue but I would really like an option to change the UI size, in my laptop's screen the interface is just too damn small.

I'd like George LeS's suggestions on improving the Naval side of the game to be implemented.

Oh, and I'd like the Holy Roman Empire-mechanics be transformed into a generic Imperial mechanic, that's open to modding and where each nation can be a member of exactly one Empire at a time (Imperial Creation Kit could even be DLC).

National unifications is one of the more interesting things to do in EU3, creating an Empire of your own could be at least as interesting.

i would love to see a mechanic that would allow you to change the gender laws of your nation. that way the player could decide if they wanted to play with salic law or something else instead of just fudging with the country files. i always thought it was kind of hokey that the game didnt have any way to control this.

i would also like some sort of mechanism to create united kingdoms like what happened with great britain or austria but without adding a crap ton of country tags.

More UI stuff:

- Please save the state of the game in the save file. I.e., whether the log window is open or not, which map mode
is selected, what the current game speed is, etc. It's a minor annoyance to have to set that stuff up the way I
want it each time I start the game.

- Allow us to load (yes, I reload sometimes -- gasp!) a saved game without having to resign, pick single player,
etc., etc. I don't consider it PI's place to discourage reloading, if that is even what they're attempting to do.

- Something that's been asked for since EU I :): allow us to delete a saved game from within the game.

I'm sure I'll have more later.

This is the smallest of ideas but I would kind of like it maybe some one else will too, but have when you become a empire that empire appears at the end of your name. ex. German Empire, Austrian Empire, or English Empire. It's not really that important more of a bottom of the buck idea but would be nice. Also, AI with goals like forming Italy or Spain or getting a sound toll.

Because it was the leading town in Norway very early on and strong commercial as well as political center.

I would also suggest Iceland a possible revolter nation in the late 1700.

It's a small wish, but periodic music. Having different music play during the different ages would go a long way in giving the game a unique personality. If I recall, one of the Europa Universalis games prior to the third one had this too.

I second that.

Another AI thing which bothers me is that my allies often peace out too soon. Since I always play a naval-oriented game, it's not uncommon for it to take a while before I can bring a large army to their aid. Just yesterday, for the umpteenth time, I had just gotten to my beleaguered ally (Hungary, in this case), and just defeated the main enemy army, so we could take back the provinces which had fallen. Hungary peaced out right after the big win. Perhaps a "big victory" factor might help here.

Another thing, I want to repeat the request for setting maintenance for individual units' maintenance. It's a real pain when exploring in tough-native areas, to have to oversupport your whole army, for one conquistador. Unrealistic, too. If not individually set, perhaps by region, but the former would be better. (If this were added, it would make sense to have the unsupported units recover slower. Perhaps they should be at less than full-manpower strength, too.)

But why would it revolt? Is there any history of being its own nation?

Adjustable UI size. EU3 is the only game I don't play at my monitor's max resolution because the UI is too small.

Something that makes large countries with multiple culture groups more difficult to control in the late game.

4 things:
The politics of CK2 (with relation to the nobles and dynasties, though you don't have to play a dynasty in EUIV)
The economics/populations of Vicky2 (for the most part hands off, where you don't have to manage everything. At the same time super realistic. I would like to see guilds participating in build of infrastructure etc. like capitalists do in Vicky2. This would also make for an easier EUIV to V2 converter)
Realistic Combat
Realistic Tech tree

Just some rough suggestions with my justifications.

Allies should be able to use each others transport ships for transportation of men. (the ship itself should be controled by the owner of course

Also last time i checked if im a horse i can run faster than a man on foot, and a man on foot is faster than a cannon. I believe that taking out the speed for the units removes a layer of strategy and should be restored in EU4. (if any one knows why they removed speed difference id like to know).

A more in depth HRE, just steal the axed magna mundi system. Also if im emperor and my shifty mate freisland is conquering lands in the HRE i dont want to be asking him for the land back i as emperor alowed him to take it so why are my magistrates and diplomats asking for his land back with out my say so? A formal request should not be automatic but left to the discretion of the emperor in the form of a diplomatic action like bestowing imperial grace or forcing religious unity.

the ability to conduct pogroms against certain cutural or religous groups with in your country to promote your culture or religion. this may be controversial but in a game preporting to be historicly accurate they miss out a big bit of history: the persecution of peoples for the purpose of promoting other peoples.

a more detailed atftergame statistics system. i mean even having the ledger at this point would be good to compare wars with spikes in income and what not however implmenting this isnt crucial as you can do it any way ingame so realy a new more indepth system would be much appreciated.

The ability to convert to any religion or declare your self secular. though perhaps this is slightly unreasonable.

also the ability to garrison your troops in a provinces forts. the size of the fort determining how many troops can garrison.

you can already denounce the pope as a catholic country but id like to see this go a bit more in depth like perhaps aligning your self with an anti pope. and when you raise the king to be "The final legal authority in all religous matters" you should actuly notice somthing beyond every one hating you and a yearly prestige increase.

The ability to some how recycle your old ships instead of having them all burnt when you need new ones.

The ability to be able to form commenwealths of countries such as the Polish-lithuanian commonwealth or the austro-hungarian empire after the hugnarians rebeled and became as far as i know an equal partner in the empire. oh and the ability to form Austro-Hungary.

when i disband the HRE id like at least a message proclaiming its destruction its a fairly big thing and i belive it is underrated atm.

The knights start out with 10000000000000000000000000000 ducats. but seriosuly a simple langue system would be good where the traditional supporters of the knights are perhaps asked to donate via event which they can of course choose to refuse. and why are the Knights maltese in 1399 when they havnt even been to malta yet it would be apropriate for them to be considered some sort of spanish or french. also since the game is getting more historicly rigid (for lack of a better term) there needs to be events for the ottomen seige of malta in 1565 (if obvious conditions are met)

this brings up another point id like to make about the new historical effort paradox is putting in (the historical events) The events musnt be chosen on how important the country was participating but rather how important the event was to major powers and humanity in general.

the ability to own just ports instead of having to conquer an entire province for use of there port.

as a non european im happy to be a backwards dirt farme it makes for a masochistic challenge but i think stealing would of been invented by even the most moronic individuals. you should be able to steal your superior european aggressors weapons to use against them at least or some sort of simulation of this.

i also think that certain commodities need to be turned into spendable resources like metals for weapon production which would make iron provinces very sought after you should of course be able to trade for your iron though. also if you just occupy an enemys iron province you should be able to stockpile it. of course this should be used for more than just iron. this would require a huge overhaul though so i doubt it will be implemented but it would be good. This would also make the conquest more than a general yearly cash increase and actuly give tactical meaning for taking provinces beyond "that ones worth more than that one" or "if i take that i can fuck Burgundy up" both are good reasons for taking a province but another reason never hurt.

Non agression pacts instead of Millitary access counting as a NA pact.

a fully supported RANDOM MAP GENERATOR! though is more a dream than anything else.

if were guna have our envoys (diplos magistrates colnist etc)as a personality istead of an expendable resource we need to be able to execute said personality increasing infamy. and of course there need to be troublemakers to execute.

Gozo must be a seperate province. gozo is one of the islands of malta.

all i can think of for now.

id also like the view the world as a sphere.....

some sort of supply lines. it should be a very simple representation. supply lines were practicly non existant during the early periods of the game.

native australian countries to kill. they did exist there were infact more aboriginal tribes accross australia than states in europe. feel free to correct me on this i saw a map of all the aboriginal tribes and there were tons. but in the traditional EU way 3 or 4 would suffice after all any 1 not european is just a tool for them.

Also somthing that realy Annoys me about lets say the INCA is the fact that while they may not of had large sea faring vessals or metal hats i do belive it was possible for them to look over the next hill they should be able to atleast slowly explore and colonise uncharted lands.

an abandon colony button.

major decisions should require you to verify you actuly want to enact them. it can get annoying if you accidently become protestant after forcing the entirety of europe to be catholic.

the ability to sell or trade your mapping of a region to a country or be forced via peace treaty for the info.

you should be able to depose the ruler of a country via peace treaty.

a knights of honor style rts combat system. once again not guna happen but cool

the ability to pay a country to declare war on another country.

the ability to sell more than 1 province at a time and the ability to choose the amount of ducats we want to gift.

in addition to being able to call all allies on a DOW you should be able to check "call vassals" or if paradox is feeling like it we could manually check who we want to come, one by one.

apologies if all this has already been stated.

Also last time i checked if im a horse i can run faster than a man on foot, and a man on foot is faster than a cannon. I believe that taking out the speed for the units removes a layer of strategy and should be restored in EU4. (if any one knows why they removed speed difference id like to know).
Well, cavalry is still faster than infantry, and infantry is still faster than artillery.

The ability to be able to form commenwealths of countries such as the Polish-lithuanian commonwealth or the austro-hungarian empire after the hugnarians rebeled and became as far as i know an equal partner in the empire. oh and the ability to form Austro-Hungary.
Those Commonwealths sound more like PUs than actually a new tag.

as a non european im happy to be a backwards dirt farme it makes for a masochistic challenge but i think stealing would of been invented by even the most moronic individuals. you should be able to steal your superior european aggressors weapons to use against them at least or some sort of simulation of this.
Reverse-engineering weapons requires much skill and technology on its own.

i also think that certain commodities need to be turned into spendable resources like metals for weapon production which would make iron provinces very sought after you should of course be able to trade for your iron though.
Iron is a very common mineral.

the ability to sell or trade your mapping of a region to a country or be forced via peace treaty for the info.
So easy to be exploited. And, more likely, the maps would be burnt/faked before being given to an aggressor.

the ability to pay a country to declare war on another country.
Too easy exploitable.

The rest all seemed good/reasonable suggestions to me.
