1 - Better population system. Maybe like that of Victoria II. And also realistic populations for a province because I hate it when 10k rebels show up from a province which has only a population of 3000. Less but stronger rebels could be ok.
2 - U could also change the technology system to like that of Victoria II. Because it doesn't make sense when latin tech has a research efficiency of 100% and china of 50%(?). Tech research efficiency should depend on for example number of universities and contact and tech-trade with your neighbors etc. Also to prevent Europe from being the leading technology u could make an option to 'modernise' and any nation in the world should be able to do this as first (and only?), when the requirements are met, and neighbors to that country should benefit more than other nations.

And what about prisoners of war. Armies should not be totally annihilated. There should be an option to ransom prisoners or it should be an option for peace. And what about peace treaties in which both sides have gains and losses?

And could it be possible to add number of total troops and total casualties in each player war-menu, because I always want to know how much soldiers I lost and how much my enemy has lost. For AI-wars I don't really care especially if they are going to slow down the game.

POW cartels would fit the later period at least. They usually included the condition that the men released not fight against the power that held them (and their allies) for a certain amount of time or for the duration of the war. So for example, if Spain is fighting the Ottomans against a coalition of France and Prussia, the POWs released from Prussia could fight the Ottomans but not the French or Prussians. Might be kind of tricky to code, but not too much so I suppose. Maybe something like the code in CK2 that bars holy orders from fighting their coreligionists.

I'd like to see provinces change names when you capture them, according to culture. I don't think this should hold true for the Old World (except for Ottoman expansion and Spanish/Portuguese expansion in Iberia/North Africa), as much in the New World. At the beginning of the game the New World will have their native names attached to them, but when the Spanish/Portuguese/English/French/Dutch arrive, it would be nice and really pleasing to see those names change, according to their cultural names. For example if the Dutch colonize modern day "New York" first, it would be renamed to "New Amsterdam", until either the English capture changing the name. In EU3 it was disappointing because the Native names were kept far after colonization, so it ended up looking kind of weird.

I'm new to this game but one thing that i noticed is annoying is vassils. I don't like how you can't annex vassils with a different religon. You should be able to force convert them to your religon. To balance that you would have to support the cost of maintaing the missionares. As often enough the contries are very small. Another change i would like to see is converting provinces sometimes you can just get a province that refuses to convert. I believe that after each year or month a bit of the population is converted. untill more than half the population is converted that would be the main religon. You could have the wheels that show culture and population like in victoria 2 and instead show the different religons in the provence. You could also keep your missionaireto fully convert the province so there's no chance of them converting back. these are just some thing that i would like to see improved on in EU4.

Just transferring the system from CK2, where you can manually rename provinces, would be more than enough for a roleplayer like myself. Not to mention it would save the devs a ton of time better spent on the rest of the game.

But you can manually rename them right now.

I actually disagree with him though, I'd rather this happen for the Old World. There was a mod that did that, but it wouldn't always fire properly. Basically if you took over Polish provinces as a German nation, it would rename them to localized German names, and the opposite would be true for several initially German provinces if taken by Slavs. Another set of lovely localizations would be Celtic vs. English names. If one takes over all of Britain was Wales, you wouldn't expect Lincolnshire to be called Lincolnshire. No clue as to what it'd be called, something Welsh-y I assume.

What I hope not to see are automatic garrisons for fortresses. It's stupid that you always have thousands of men sitting in all of your forts as garrisons, even in your inner provinces. One should be given the choice which to garrison and with how many men/supplies, at a cost of course.

Yes, your garrisons being part of your army would be great.

forts should be able to protect armies in the province. say that your 2k army is being routed to one of your provinces, which has a lv 2 fort, wouldn't it make sense for that army to hide in the fortress/city and be protected instead of being obliterated by the enemy forces following them? when on the inside the army would be able to help in the protection of the city and lower revolt risk, but also cause the tax income to drop since the army now relies directly on the province they're in.

What I hope not to see are automatic garrisons for fortresses. It's stupid that you always have thousands of men sitting in all of your forts as garrisons, even in your inner provinces. One should be given the choice which to garrison and with how many men/supplies, at a cost of course.

On a related note, those fortress garrisons should actually be able to do some fighting when they are under siege. It always annoyed me how in CK2 a castle's defenders would happily sit by and watch the battle ensue rather than sally out to help their comrades trying to lift the siege.

Indeed. But then it would be even more imperative that after building/upgrading forts the garrisons wouldn't just magically appear there.

Also I'd hope that the sieging troops would suffer casualties in addition to the ones suffered from normal attrition. They are supposedly actively fightning pretty much every day after all.

Edit: you can sally out in CK2, just raise the levy from the province interface. Although I guess that a small amount of men would still remain in the castle, haven't played the game for a while.
