I would like to see a MUCH better user interface. I left a lenghty rant in the "Eu4" thread about it.

Don't make us have to hover the mouse over stuff or click on things to learn the relevant stats. :( Make the default map mode SPEAK to us!! Make it tell us important stuff... COT trade strength, my own trade levels, tax income, revolt risk, strength of fleets in port, core province or not, fortress and blockade strengths. All of that could be put into the default map mode without make it cluttered. Have it simply appear step by step when you zoom in. Learn from the way the Civ series puts tons of info on their UI.

1 - .txt files for the AI

2 - A better horde system

3 - Flags that change with government type

4 - Better borders, the CK2 ones only make sense if there's lots of subnational entities

5 - Religious and cultural minorities

6 - Permanent terra incognita (yes, I like that. Looked better than the wastelands)

7 - Dynamic cultures? (The 'german' culture in a province ruled by slavs for centuries should be different to that of a province ruled by germans)

8 - Less focus on crusading and conquering 'heathens', more focus on colonial exploration and sectarian conflict

9 - Buildings that make sense: why do I have to build marketplaces, shouldn't every town have had one for centuries?

Would like to see if we could have province governors like in EU Rome Universalis. It would be also nice if we could have dukes, viziers, ministers like a cabinet and also court where your king resides.

I think EU4 also needs a strong emphasis on domestic gameplay. The problem with all recent PI games (with the exception of Victoria II) is that there's basically nothing to do other than conquer the world and prepare to conquer the world. Of course the lot of us are going to blob all over the map when blobbing is the only national strategy that requires our constant attention! Victoria 2 has amazing domestic gameplay. Industrialization and the political reform system was a worthy equal to warefare in every way.

EU4 isn't Victoria, of course, so you can't have the game focus on building factories and curbing unemployment. There must be some way to make an engaging system of domestic management in EU that requires the player's constant attention, I just don't know what that might be.

More/other ways to improve your country during peacetime. I played a game as Germany and shaped my country to the borders of the 1871 German Empire and was incredibly bored as pretty much the only thing to do was wait for magistrates and spam buildings. Maybe make buildings more expensive, building something in your capital should be a real investment. Revolts, revolutions or atleast something more to do during peacetime then mass infrastructure and set your armies to auto rebel hunt.

Revamped advisor system. Advisors could perhaps gradually get better the longer you employ them. Atleast something else than grinding your cultural tradition to 90%+ and hoping that you get a 6 star advisor rather than a 5 star one.

More modding capabilities. As we've seen before (The Elder Scrolls series, Half Life, Warcraft and the GS games for example) the modding community is what makes great games incredible. I'm not a very experienced modder but from what I've read on the modding forums there's a lot of intresting stuff that is impossible to mod because of some parts of the game being hardcoded.

Personally, I'd like to see a better cabinet mechanic, perhaps something similar to Hearts of Iron 3 only using randomly generated ministers. I'd like to see power (or rather whose stats the game uses for bonuses/penalties) being distributed between the monarch and his/her ministers based on the government type. So in a Despotic Monarchy, all power is coming straight from the King/Queen. In a Constituional Monarchy, all administration related stats are coming from the Prime Minister and the monarch only contributes charisma/prestige, or something like that.

The Personal Union is a mechanic that has always been terrible in EU3, IMO. I'd love to see it changed to involve more interaction between the senior and junior power. The senior partner should have the ability to make changes to the junior, depending on the government type of the two. If you throw around your weight too much, then the nobles/officials in the junior partner will start to want a separate King/Queen.

A big black shield as pre-order bonus icon. :)

Personal Unions and forming new nations needs to be reworked. Take Great Britain for example: the parliaments of Scotland and England both passed acts which merged the two kingdoms into one. I realise not every formation had a diplomatic foundation but it's still very annoying trying to form GB anything close to historical.

One thing I love about Victoria II is its POP system. I played that game before EU3 and I think the fact that EU3 doesn’t have anywhere near as detailed of a system is one of the major reasons I haven’t been able to get into EU3 and keep going back to V2. For EU4 I wouldn’t expect as detailed of a system that V2 has, but if they found some kind happy medium between EU3 and V2, I would be a happy man.

I´d like to see a better Naval System. A change to the Pirate patrols. A system like Vicy 2 for the Generals and Admirals.

A flexibel Tagsystem would be nice. For example, i can chose from which countries I can see the Tags.

Much more depth to the battle system.
Some more depth I agree with.

Also national ideas should be slight bit deeper with a few more and some stronger interconnection/stacking bonus.

+1
An opportunity to change a culture of province into absolutely new one by slowly mixing your culture with province culture.

(For example, there were no Ukrainian culture in 1399 or 1452 and this culture had emerged much later as a result of contacts between polish and russian cultures multiplied with special cossack lifestyle (long life on the border of the country with everyday resistance to nomads' attacks))
Another example - russians living for long time under Poland-Lithuania wouldn't be the same people as russians who were living in russian or mongol-tatar states. Baltic people living under german rule also wouldn't be the same people as balts living without german rule.

I want it to take place between 474 and 754 AVC or so.
There'd be some character management, sort of like CK2, but with the focus still on countries rather than on families.
You'd manually set trade routes between your provinces, to spread goods and be able to recruit various units everywhere the resources are available/traded.
Republics would have a senate you need to manage and influence, so you can keep on playing the way you want.
There'd be civil wars in which half your country can break away and form a new country instead of just silly rebels.
Etc.
