Alright, so I don't know if the politics will be as flexible as in Hearts of Iron, but we do know that it's the age of industry, revolutions, and nationalism. Between 1835 and 1920 we have just about every nation ever. Ireland starts to come back, the Balkans are free, American and Russian civil wars, Crimea, Ottoman disintegration, blah blah blah you guys know all this stuff.

So what country are you going to make with your new options? What country could or should have existed but never got its chance? Maybe America as a noble Jeffersonian agrarian republic? Texas as an industrialized dictatorship? Crimea? Western Thrace?

What I want to try to create, personally, is a communist Confederate States of America. Imagine it. Win the civil war, build a few years, and, finally, the most downtrodden proletarians in the world rise up and crush the minority ruling class. I think it'd be interesting, to say the least.

If Paradox makes Finland playable vassal/puppet of Russia rather than owned territory (historically Finland was autonomous Grand Duchy with it's own army etc.) I plan to depart from mother Russia ahistorically early (preferably with the help of another Great Power) idustrialize and hopefully secure some more land. First from the west (thus creating Finland-Sweden :D) and if I become strong enough, I will hit Russia when it is at it's weakest and try to pry at least Karelia and Baltic region from it.

I will most likely go gloriously down when executing this plan, but like certain famous individual once said, it is better to live a day as a lion than hundred as a sheep (or something like that).

I would likely start as one of the 'disadvantaged' states... particularly the Ottoman Empire, Spain, Germany and Italy... try to rebuild/build them to something that can challenge the traditional powers. Another interesting slant would be taking a nation like Thailand, treat it a bit like Japan (rapid industrialization, etc), and see if you can get similar results...

I'd like to try a independant Texas for a while. What I really look forward to is trying to 'pull a japan' with Ethiopia, Hawaii, Siam, etc.

If only Wisconsin could be independant :) Lacking that, I would like to see if I can manuver an independant Ireland earlier than in OTL and secure their place among the community of nations.

It would also be fun to play as Austria and see if can influence German indpendence ;)

Well, conquering all of Europe with the United States would be a hoot. Bring democracy to the Europeans a little earlier than IRL and all that. I would wager whether such is possible or not will be a good test of VIC's game logic and AI.

More seriously, I think the Confederacy, Prussia, Savoy, and Spain could all be interesting countries to play. I'm guessing the US, UK, and France will all probably be pretty boring once you learn the game a bit.

Yes, Tibet was independent during the Victoria game era. :) However, during the later 19th century, Britain and China gained dominance over parts of the region, but Tibet regained its full indepedence in 1912 when the Qing Dynasty fell.

Ah, thank you!

That's how I understood it to be, essentially it was used as a buffer state between China and British India. Hopefully a person could attempt to play one off the other and begin a 'harmonious' expansion policy. ;)
