With the new change to warrior culture, I'm wondering how and if the other versions have been changes as well.
I can see corporations holding a hunger game to see how strong the mercs are.
But how will the hivemind and machine empire work?

It will happen the same thing that happened to gestalt civics that had their counterpart changed to something interesting (like natural neural network / technocracy).

It will remain sad and miserable.

They could rename it "Survival of the Fittest", where the Gestalt does actuall deathmatches.

I am unsure if adding amenities for that would make sense.

Of course you do not force worker drones to deathmatches.

For Warrior drones however it would be a viable form of optimisation.

Why would I want to turn alloys into unity, amenities, and naval capacity over a continuous period of time?

That seems... suboptimal.
Why?
The jobs have the same input/output Quota and Job Maintenance.

You do get the advantage that you need to juggle Consumer goods less.

You do get the advantage that you need to juggle Consumer goods less.

That may be true, but it certainly seems that at a certain point, you pay more alloys for whatever naval cap you get from this job than you do from an anchorage, since anchorages are a one time investment.

But, on the other hand, that assumes you want to use starbases as anchorages....

so that you're warrior culture appropriately has many more forges than consumer good factories.

i love changes like these because it changes what you do up and down the supply line, making the culture actually feel different.

I can think of warbots running real simulations, instead of just calculating stuff or doing it virtually (blowing up stuff in the process and consuming resources).
Yet for machines I see naval capacity more related to logistics, so idk if a combat simulation would help so directly, perhaps less drones would be necessary for achieving the same performance.
I think coming up with gameplay bonuses is the easy part, relating it to some good lore is more difficult.
I really hope they are not forgotten.

I don't see why the Hive can't fight amongst itself to remain strong. Starcraft 2 has a co-op commander (Dehaka) who is literally this: he makes his units fight eachother and the strongest gets stronger. One could argue he's not a true hive, but his faction is the literal hive-mind species.

But this does make less sense for machine empires. I mean, I guess they could still be based on "Live Tests produce better results than simulations", and it's not like they need to worry about hurting any intelligence unlike biological creatures.

I'm not sure they'll straight-port Warrior Culture, though. There isn't a single Hive/Machine civic that adds/replaces Gestalt jobs with unique ones.

That may be true, but it certainly seems that at a certain point, you pay more alloys for whatever naval cap you get from this job than you do from an anchorage, since anchorages are a one time investment.

But, on the other hand, that assumes you want to use starbases as anchorages....
As Duelists replace Entertainers, you build those jobs for the Amenities first. The Unity and naval cap is just a side dish.

If you want Naval Cap from Pops/Buildings, that falls into the Fortress line of buildings.

I don't see why the Hive can't fight amongst itself to remain strong. Starcraft 2 has a co-op commander (Dehaka) who is literally this: he makes his units fight eachother and the strongest gets stronger. One could argue he's not a true hive, but his faction is the literal hive-mind species.
Excepot for the part where they mention that the Primal Zerg are not a hive mind like a Dozen Times during the campaign. Including the mission where his people are the only ones not effect by the "kill all Armies with Hivemind Trait" effect. So you picked propably the worst example for a Hivemind you could have :)


Still I agree that the basic idea is solid. A Gestalt Consciousness of any form would have 0 qualms doing life combat testing with the Military Units.
