When EUIII comes out will you move across to the new game permanently and never come back here or will you still play EUII?

It will go the way of EU1.

It is too early to tell by and large.

If it is anything like HoI2 though, there will still be some die-hard EU2ers out there who refuse to convert, just as there will be some yes-men who will swear by EUIII even if P'dox crapped in a box and shipped it out (No offense to anyone @ p'dox, they've just got some insanely loyal fans out there).

As for me personally, its way too early to tell. I imagine that it will initially be difficult for me to convert, but once I do I'll forget the previous game ever existed. I still have HoI & EU around here somewhere, but they're definitely not on my system anymore.

It has the Roman Empire. It'll still be played.
Given that the time difference between the release of EUIII and the arrival of the first "Byzantine mod for EUIII" is likely to measured in nanoseconds, at most, that's not a convincing argument. :D

Maybe, but also, the map doesn't suck. :p

EDIT: And you better call the Empire by its rightful name!

I've never understood those who dwell on map details rather than being concerned primarily with the game engine so I'll have to let that one pass. :)

I would, but you know how the unwashed masses are... Severely lacking in historical knowledge. As such, were I to use the rightful name, "The Purple Blob", it would confuse the multitudes to no end. Thus I use the colloqial term that everybody understands (Byzantium) and nobody suffers except the pedants and good riddance to them. :)

Most definately. I can almost see quantum physicists delving into the instantaneous creations of the two entities. If Paradox could bottle it, they'd make millions. :D

Details I don't mind. I don't like the 3D. Looks gimmicky.

This is unacceptable, I fear. Go forth and educate the masses. Spread the word of the Roman Empire!

I've only just discovered EU2, and I like the look and feel of the game, from what I've seen of EU3 I probably won't bother with it. It looks abit like Civ 4, it's all blocky and three-dimensional and abit soulless. It probably won't even have the hammer guy (the one who always bashes away at the forge everytime war breaks out, that guys never short of work, he kind of reminds me of the goblins in Lord of the Rings film , those bits where they start building the orc army ;) )

3D doesn't make a game better, EU3 will probably be all looks and less brains. EU2 for me, EU3 will probably be like The Godfather III, or ALien III (or heavens forbid- Alien4!!! ) or Scary Movie. You get the idea.

I for one, will sorely miss personally putting the Byzantine Empire out of it's misery. A mod that allows me to squash an ahistorical Byzantine Empire just won't do it - who is to say that this ahistorical Byzantine Empire deserves said squashing half as much as the historical one?

No fun without the Empire. I will stick with EU2.

I never play any scenario earlier than the 1492 one, so I will not be missing that corrupt and weak shadow of a former empire.

For me it will depend on how good EU3 is. I mean, I loved Civ2, but hardly ever (never) play it any more, in favor of SMAC. On the other hand I do still play SMAC, even though I have Civ3 and Civ4, because I like it better. So I guess I'll see.

EU3 is looking pretty good though.
