As a new time player, I thought it was good, however it did look a bit odd and some long time players I know did not enjoy it.
New or old, what are your opinions?

you could also argue that it increases accessibility to the game for those on lower incomes, but i'm glad you don't feel strongly enough about the issue to argue. In the long run, the subscription costs more than buying the DLCs outright. Thus, it's another instance of how being poor can be more expensive than being rich. You could make an argument that it's immoral or exploitative on that basis, but I don't feel strongly enough about the issue to do so myself.
Also correct. It’s a double edged sword. Not that different from other rent vs buy decisions, most of which similarly make it more expensive to be poor. Personally I’m fine with it. Paradox didn’t invent structural issues of capitalism.you could also argue that it increases accessibility to the game for those on lower incomes, but i'm glad you don't feel strongly enough about the issue to argue.
i don't understand what you're sayng. sign of what?a subscription service isn't exactly a promising sign.
After the Leviathan Incident, a lot of us were hoping they'd cut their losses and decide that yes, EU4's time had passed. The launch of the subscription service was a sign they had no intention of doing so.i don't understand what you're sayng. sign of what?
they've said they'll continue rolling out mission trees and won't change the map any more. this isn't a secret. After the Leviathan Incident, a lot of us were hoping they'd cut their losses and decide that yes, EU4's time had passed. The launch of the subscription service was a sign they had no intention of doing so.
and they can still buy stuff when it's on saleMore options that do not limit the original formula are always welcome in my book.
I think it is a lot cheaper to buy the game and all expansions when they are on discount, which happen quite often but most people are not patient enough for that and this subscription based formula is perfect for the " I WANT IT ALL AND I WANT IT NOW " crowd.
Not if the game is not for you. You can try it with all ' bells and whistles ' and see if it's actually the game you hope it is for a relatively cheap price. Rather than spending hundreds of money and finding out that way.Rent is always worse than buying in the long run
"In the long run" kind of assumes the player being interested enough in the game to keep on playing for a long time. Hence why they said "rent is always worse than buying"Not if the game is not for you. You can try it with all ' bells and whistles ' and see if it's actually the game you hope it is for a relatively cheap price. Rather than spending hundreds of money and finding out that way.
