What was the last game you were this excited for?

I ask because I can barely remember ever being this excited for a game before EUIV. The only two games that came close for me would be The Sims Medieval, Spore (I obviously hadn't discovered strategy yet) and then Civ V.All of which were total disappointments. What games have all of you been as or more excited about than EUIV?

Probably Portal 2 since I rarely pre-order games or buy them at full price, but both of these games were special cases.

Metroid Prime 3, which was quite good, Dark Souls, also up to expectations for the most part after a patch, and a few others. Been a while though.

CKII, we got almost everything we want that wasn't in the first one, and it also gained an extra dimension.

Jagged Alliance: Back in Action. I believed until last moment they make turn-based strategy. But they didn't. Since then i never pre-order any games. EUIV is only exception.

Civ 5: a Brave new world, kinda makes that game alot better. Eventho the game didnt start amazing I think the 2 expansions have made it into best of the series.

CK2 got released on valentines day. It didn't make my ex-girlfriend happy

The last game I got so excited for was CKII I think. Maybe Terraria but I think that is older.

... well not that excited. one can not be more excited than the one night before EUIV release. but close to that.
and... i never played it again. not my thing. not what i was waiting for. pure personal opinion. don't want to start a bloody D3 flame war on eu forums.


and Pharaoh, yes, i remember playing the demo all days long till i finally bought the game. then somehow it occured to me the demo was better than the full game anyway a brilliant strategy game of the type i miss these days.

Mass Effect 3, and after that... incident, I swore to never again have any expectations for a game or be excited about it. So far that was a good decision to wait and play for myself before wetting my pants in excitement just to be let down eventually.

EvE Online (WiS flavour). When the devs wished for a "complete sci-fi experience" some years back. They worked on the 3D avatars for an aeon and promised 'Walking in Stations' (WiS) where more than walking might happen given the Sociopath Simulator aspect of the whole game. Alas, the devs took EvE in a different direction (but kept the avatars at least) so it remains future technology over story-telling and characterization. Yea, I was one of the poor saps who role-played my characters in EvE.

'Tis a shame to turn my back on the old friend that was EvE, but it was a hoot, all in all, in the day.

Roll on EU IV SP shenanigans, then, instead. Looking forward to it greatly.
