What to play while waiting?

I played old Panzer General (there is a Czech community which also (re)made Allied PG and Pacific PG - the last one is not complete, but still pretty good). Is this a newer version?
Panzer General Forever is a remake that contains Panzer General and Allied General with a better UI and AI.

I'm currently playing Warthunder, a great game where you can play online in aerial dogfights or tank battles, in all the WW2 armoured vehicles and aircraft. Would highly recommend it, especially since it's free.

Based on @Director 's recommendation, I've been giving Rule the Waves a run, and while it's aesthetic is somewhat minimalist, the gameplay is rock-solid. Would recommend people checking out reviews before taking the plunge, but for people looking for a game between now and HoI, and for any fans of big-gun ships and pre-CV naval combat (the game only goes to 1925, and doesn't include aircraft) it's unbelievably good

Just started Hoi3 again...
Its fucking ugly, I have no need to fill the Theatres again. After playing CK2 and EU4 i cant go back to that game. Even Darkest Hour looks much better then Hoi3. I need WW2 in the new engine. Please make it ready soon

If we're branching out to games other than strategy, I can't recommend Silent Hunter III enough. Especially with the massive Grey Wolves Expansion super-mod. The amount of content it adds, from ships, planes, theatres, radio messages, and missions, to authentic contemporary music and other material, is just breath-taking. I also love how it uses the JSGME install program to enable or disable content based on what time period of the war you're playing.

part of this was because pornhub was one of the only sites you could see footage of gameplay due to bethesda's blackout of potential gameplay spoilers.release of Fallout 4 conincided with a noticeable slump in PornHub traffic

Yes it has its glitches, but the gameplay base is very solid. Glitches are easier to fix than bad gameplay. Even if it OP wants to wait a month, it still is on my recommendation list even now.

Just got back from playing the Road to Kiev scenario in War in the East. Gods, this game is deep. So many things to do, so many ways to accomplish your objectives, and holy ****, so many things to learn. It's fun as heck if you like deep strategy games, though, although I wish it had been made by someone with a bigger budget and more experience. So many UI features could have been improved upon. Just the fact that when you choose colour for counters you have to enter the R, G, and B colour values instead of just being shown a "colour box" like in most other software is pretty... impressive .

.Both EE and Empires were pretty good. Not perfect by any means, but really fun. Lots of good scenarios and campaigns on the Heavengames sites, too
