So what are you guys doing with the fallen empire pops and worlds? I'm having this problem that since the FE buldings don't really produce jobs I just have a bunch of layabouts doing crime. I'm egalitarian so I can't enslave them, and since I can't let their population go below 70 in order to keep the FE buildings despite there being no jobs it seems the only choice is to turn everything into an ecumenopolis. Is there another alternative for the unemployment for those without megacorp or being authoritatrian and putting the FE pops into domestic servitude?

I haven't conquered one yet but now that you bring it up it's pretty ridiculous they don't provide anything for pops to do on these worlds that are pretty much the best you can get and strive for. I think the robot custodians have jobs for drones, not sure if these do anything with biological pops on the planet.

I was pretty disappointed when I first scanned these planets, a size 30 gaia with a bunch of one off buildings that seem stuck in a timeline halfway between the tile system and 2.2. Like they went through the effort to revamp all the buildings into different versions of their old selves instead of implementing the pop/jobs of 2.2. At least before 2.2 the buildings had flavour in that they were an ultimate T6 version of regular empire buildings, now they're just weird one offs that make the planets into a defacto megastructure for all the gameplay they add. Guess you keep the bare minimum of pops to maintain building slots and ship everyone else off world. Doesn't seem well implemented into the new direction of the game.

You could set their living standards to Social Welfare to pacify them and get some unity out of it. It's probably not the best use of theses pops since they tend to be quite good in term of traits, but it's the best option you have as an egalitarian empire.

I have em all in Utopian Abundance so the unemployed pops are doing research for me too. It's just really annoying that there's no way to put them to work without destroying the high level FE buildings.

Guess my next game will be as authoritarian so I can force these lazy aliens to work.

What did you expect? They don't have most of their pops leading hedonistic lifestyle just so that you can force them to work their automatic buildings. Or, in case of Spiritualist FE, actually working their districts or creating consumer goods and amenities out of thin air.

I'd like it if they had less buildings then, as the soft cap of buildings seems counterproductive. I can eradicate all FE pops and replace them with my own hardworking pops and STILL end up having my pops be unemployed. It's not good for representing cultural stagnation because even when it's not FE pops living there they still maintain that lifestyle.

I am quite sure that you can resettle all but 80 of their pops to their almost empty colonies (which only have a palace and a Sky Dome) and have them work there, while rebuilding their city districts into the other ones. That should alleviate most of the problem, especially on the Font of Knowledge, as it is an ecumenopolis. Or give them Utopian Abundance as Egalitarian. I'm pretty sure they will still cost less than when they were Precursors.

Gameplay>Lore. However even on the lore front this makes no sense as they are meant to be Stagnant empires, not just ones that decided at one point that this was good enough for them. There should be a huge number of unfilled jobs and empty housing on these enormous idyllic worlds, not just a planet full of complacent demi-gods that are satisfied with a fraction of their former glories. I guess it depends which FE you are looking at but some don't really fit their designation as fallen empires.

Your argument also makes no sense as the precursor pops do work jobs, the jobs just don't come from the buildings.

On the gameplay front these worlds are boring to own compared to regular worlds in 2.2 and are a pretty disappointing reward for the effort to acquire them.

Has anyone seen what FE's do with worlds once they Ascend? Do they just plop down more fire-and-forget buildings or are they a bit more proactive?

I just gathered all the precursor POPs that tried to force peace through the barrel of a space gun onto a single planet, evacuated all other POPs, then cracked it open with the Colossus.

The post-conquest part of Fallen Empire's in all seriousness needs more content, their buildings should trigger some sort of next-step in technology for the end-game. Opening up the technology of Fallen Empire's to the galaxy at wide should be a major thing, adding dynamism to the end-game through revolutionary buildings that completely one-up the existing economy.

I ate them. The new pop growth mechanics mean that I just cannot play an empire that accepts outsiders.

That's why I only go after the Keepers of Knowledge and their Ecumenopolis or the Continuum for their Ringworld now. The others just aren't worth it unless you're keen on a massive population of unemployed people or you're authoritarian who can turn all of them into servants.

Honestly it's an issue I raised before the update was even out, but most people waved it off. To be honest the only real use I found was using authoritarian and making them into servants and that's about it. I still think that automated buildings are fundamentally a bad idea in a system that relies almost exclusively on population and manpower.

Honestly it's an issue I raised before the update was even out, but most people waved it off. To be honest the only real use I found was using authoritarian and making them into servants and that's about it. I still think that automated buildings are fundamentally a bad idea in a system that relies almost exclusively on population and manpower.
Livestock works well too.

You could use utopian abundance or social welfare too but I guess slavery or ecumenopolis are the only reasonable options. You only need 70 pops or so which means you can savely purge one of the pop types on 3 of the FE homeworlds if you feel the need.

I'll keep the option in mind when playing hive mind. Yummy decadent sandwich. That reminds me that I need to make a xenophobe megacorp who keeps xenos as livestock and opens fast food chains throughout the galaxy serving delicious blorg burgers.
