Playing as Germany, I wonder what possible use there could be for so many gernerals with the Armour Officer and Panzer Leader traits. Are they there, just in case someone decides to raise 144 armoured divisions? Or for historical immersion reasons?
I put all my tank divisions into one army under Guderian, promote Rommel to field marshal, and put Guderian's army under Rommel's command. I see no way I can ever afford to field more than 24 tank divisions. What am I supposed to do with Manstein, Kleist, Paulus, Reinhardt, Manteuffel, Hoth, Hausser, Dietrich, Krüger and Kluge? Don't get me wrong, I don't mind them being there. I just wonder if there's something I'm missing here. Is it maybe bad strategy to create one large tank army, and would I be better off with 4 armies of 6 divisions each, rather than 1 with 24?

I think it’s mostly there for flavor, though it might make some peoples’ lives easier to have each spearhead led by a separate general rather than 24 tank divisions led by 1 commander

I mean most of the time you use Rommel or Guderian, I for once only use SS if I am forced to. I would appreciate if you had more Generals for most nations (who participated). Eg Italy severly lacks for a major.
I do think that compared to France or Japan you can really see that (the lesser majors). I mean Greece and Bulgaria have more (and better ^^ although that is not so important ^^).

It's simply a matter of playstyle. Kinda like Guderian being under Rommel (heretic!).

Use what they provide you in whatever way works for you.

Armor officers are just better in this game. They get an increased chance of gaining attack and planning skills, which are the real difference makers. So, use them to lead anything at all, at a slight preference to those without starting traits, or any other leader trait. It's like Brilliant Strategist lite.

It was different with HOI3. Then, we sometimes didn't have enough specialist officers. You had to fill out the whole order of battle (Corps/Army/ArmyGroup). This used up lots of officers. If you had 2 Panzer Armies (each of 3 corps) that's 8 Panzer Leaders used up, covering what might be as few as 18 divisions.

I still don't get what the point was of being able to assign leaders to individual divisions.

I mean most of the time you use Rommel or Guderian,
That's an odd way of spelling Dietrich and Kesselring.

Remember, while grinding traits on your generals, they gain 20% less xp per already learned trait. Rommel and Guderian may start with nice traits, but they gain xp at 80% and 64% the normal rate respectively, meaning they will have a very difficult time grinding adaptable.

You could assign them all to the Ratte, the tank intended to be 115' long [128' with gun] / 46' wide / 36' tall weighing in at 1000 metric tons..

Perhaps the Ratte was intended to be.. the Maus haus. I'll see myself out!

I like to have a half dozen or so 8 division tank armies so I can have a complete front of Infantry and move the tanks to small chunks of front and use them to punch holes and create encirclements.
