Hey, I am playing as Brandenburg and I am pretty proud of my progress so far.

(I have no idea, if it is overly succesfull, but I pushed it really far all the time and was playing all the time with coalitions against me, but they never dared to attack.)

I own nearly all of Lübeck, Saxony and Baltic Sea - Trade Nodes after 100 years.

My goal in the long run was just the achievement "Traditional Player" where you have to get 90% Army and Navy Tradition, I will take a lot of Military Ideas and I guess that goal will work out easily.
(Fine Goosestep Achievement I already had.)

But what now?
I could try to conquer Novgorod and also Lithuania, but what for? I would have to take Trade Ideas to get more Merchants and I guess Brandenburg is not a Trade Nation. WC I dont want to do with this.
I also could try to colonize, but that really doesnt fit Prussia.
So what could be a good goal now for Brandenburg/Prussia?

(In the following years I will eat the rests of Poland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and all the little dots and Saxony.
I am Emperor, but I will switch to Protestant sometime, the HRE is half eaten already anyways.)

Eu 4 is a sandbox game and the world is your oyster.
At the top right, below the date, you will see a cup icon. If you click, it will list you the possible achievements you can earn in that session. It can give you a direction if you feel lost :)

You do not need an extra merchant to benefit from Novgorod and Kazan. Kazan only flows in Novgorod, and Novgorod flows into North Sea into Lubeck, and most importantly into the Baltic. That's an excellent road of expansion, as always.

Else, forming Germany is an obvious goal.

You are in prime position to get guaranteor of peace as well (guarantee the independance of France, Russia and the Ottomans), you just need to weaken them a bit.

You can get Faroe Islands from Norway to fabricate on Scotland, and open up the British Isles.

You can roleplay it a bit, and wipe out Catholicism, or save Turkey from the heathens, or whatever.

Or end the campaign after the achievement, really, if you're bored.

intresting choose to expend... I usually play tall and focus on trade routes + culture groups together. for your case what I suggest is conquer entire baltic sea and turn it into your own playground.

About the Achievement `Traditional Player`, where I have to get 90% Naval Tradition:

Wiki says:
"Light ships that are protecting trade or privateering grant +2 naval tradition per year for every 100% of your naval force limits utilized in this manner."

Lets say, I have 100 Force Limit and I have 100 Light ships and they are all protecting trade - I would get +2 Naval Tradition per year.
If I would just make 150 ships, I probably would get +3 Naval Tradition, because this is 1,5 x 100% of my Force Limit.

Now, what happens, when I take maritime ideas and get +50% Force Limit?
Are the 150 ships now all of the sudden 100% and only give +2, or does it still count as 150% of the initial Force Limit, but without me paying so much maintenance?

start a game in normal as someone with a coastline
open console and give yourself [force limit] light ships, assign them to a trade node. Wait a month. Check navy tradition ticker.
give yourself .50[force limit] more light ships, assign them to a trade node, wait a month, check navy tradition ticker.
give yourself admin 5, and fill out maritime ideas with free monarch points. Wait a month. Check navy tradition ticker.

The easiest way to gain large chunks of Naval Tradition is exploration. Take Exploration Ideas and send an Explorer out to sea; you need to get going soon, before the big colonizers figure it all out and tell you about it.
