What time will the game unlock?

I'm currently an ex-pat living in China eagerly awaiting the release of Stellaris. Mondays happen to be my one day where I have some free time but I'm incredibly aware that I'm in one of the earliest time zones that will hit may 9th. Will the game unlock at the same time regardless of which steam store you bought it in? It would be fine with me if it unlocked at midnight Swedish time since that'd still be a reasonable hour here. My worry is if it doesn't unlock until the afternoon in Sweden that puts me at about the time I'm calling it a night so I can be at work the next morning. Can anyone tell me for sure what time it'll be available to download?

I'm in Australia and I've taken three days off work for some Stellaris time. I will be somewhat displeased if one of those days is basically down the drain just because I made the seemingly reasonable assumption that a game made in Europe would release at midnight, CEST. >.<

Paradox games, without exception as far as I know, have never unlocked at 0000, but always in the evening of release day. As they say, assumption is the mother of all fudge ups!

- It will be released sometime during the afternoon/evening CEST on the 9th (early morning in the US, late evening in Asia/Oceania).

If the 19.00 release time is more recent info I'd appreciate if somebody linked to it.

Steam games always unlock at 18:00 GMT. The only slight question is if you ordered it from the Paradox store. Maybe that will unlock a little earlier but I don't see why it would as they basically just send you an email with a steam key in it.

Well, not always (I've seen 2k do phased unlocks by time). I'm not super mad about it, but I am kind of tired, since I'm living off on the Australian side of the planet, about so often having to wait until the very last timezone on the planet gradually gets it's act together in order to do anything. The world needn't have to wait on the Pacific zone, dammit! ;p

Or hardly ever, in fact. I have many games that have either been region locked to various times or in fact had a global release at 0000 GMT. Only my paradox games have I had to wait until the evening to unlock.

Well, that doesn't extend to "every" Steam game, does it? It depends on the developer when they want it to unlock.

Here's just a few from my library of 150+ games...

Witcher 3 - UK unlock time May 19th 2015 0000hrs GMT globally
Rome 2 - Sept 3rd 2013 0800 BST globally (based off 0000hrs PST)
The Division - March 8th 2016 0501 GMT (Global unlock)
Skyrim - November 11th 2011, 0000 GMT (Global unlock)

I don't expect him to start 00:00 CEST (much less so for a time zone ahead) but at a more reasonable time. So for some show to be done before the game is going live it can't really be unlocked before afternoon. Early evening sounds reasonable.

Perfectly fine by me - I hate those 0000 release times as you can never get a good play in and staying up ruins the next day for playing too (being tired!). an evening release allows me to get the house tidy (as I won't be cleaning anything for days), get supplies in and drop the kids off at their mothers before I shut myself off from humanity!

Time will tell I suppose. I'll be putting my money on a 18:00 GMT unlock. But if you are right I won't complain. Getting the game earlier than expected is always a nice touch.

Yes for someone living in one of the european time zones it should be OK. I can see that it might be inconvinient, should you live in a time zone to far ahead or behind. I'm living in the same time zone as Sweden so no problems here .

The only official thing I have found is in the pinned* thread "Stellaris set to begin the voyage on May 9th 2016", where BjornB said,

It'll be released in the afternoon/evening CEST globally. Meaning in the morning for US and in the late evening in Oceania.
