What the hell (Confused Roman Emperor meets the Reformation)

So, here I was- invading the Papal States to bring the ungrateful rebellious pope back into the fold.

So far so good, right? Well that's what I thought, just before I finished Capturing Rome the pope adopted ANOTHER HERESY.

Now on top of being completely stubborn to convert from Catholicism since Rome is a center of the Catholic heresy. It is now 'also' stubborn due to a Religious tension from people adopting some form of 'Protestant' belief, OFCOURSE THEY WERE PROTESTING THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, IT IS THE WRONG CHURCH. BUT THE ANSWER IS NOT TO ADOPT ANOTHER WRONG CHURCH!.

I now have to wait 30 years before I can even hope at converting it. How exactly did Rome spontaneously and without warning adopt this heretical 'reformation' and what in the divine seven circles can be done to prevent it?

The Papal States tends to be immune to most stuff that changes the religion of the province... but apparently it's not immune to the new Centers of Reformation mechanic. Which is just weird.

It's also weird that the -8% conversion applies to all religions and not simply other religions in the same group. It makes total sense that Protestants wouldn't want to rejoin the Catholic Church. But it doesn't make much sense that the Ottomans would give two hoots about this and not just convert everyone to Islam anyway.

After centuries of bloody wars between Catholic Pope of Holy State and Catholic Emperor of Holy Empire, times where there were 2 - 3 popes in the same time (each waging war against another), and last but not least homosexually active popes, I see absolutely nothing crazy in Rome being Protestant/Reformed/Orthodox/Coptic faith.

And I didn't even mention how organized Christianity was formed to begin with because this is ten times crazier (holy dogmas decided basing on trolling synod or internal sympathies of politically motivated bishops etc). Seriously, I greet Reformed Rome with open arms - maybe it will finally make sense

Probably not WAD, but I find your experience hilarious and will be sort of sad if it's fixed. Rome should probably be immune from getting converted by nearby Center of Reformation, but a small chance for a center there would be cool.

Going out-of-character for a bit, I am a 'tad' annoyed after surviving what was basically Rhodes>Greece>Byzantium Empire which was filled with near-death moments and was nearly impossible. Upon being on the eve of having restored the Pentarchy, it's made impossible religious zeal (9%) being added onto Religious center (5%) effectively making conversion of Rome impossible.

And no, it's not a religious center. It was converted from Switzerland.

I have +3% to conversion from NI.
I have +6% to converting heretics from religious ideas.
I have +3% from policies.
I have +2% from an advisor.
I have +2% from Patriarch.

Thats... +16% to conversion. That should allow me to convert the MOST STRONG MINDED PUBLIC EVER, but the way those things effectively stacked made it impossible for me to.

In half a century, yea. It should be reduced to 15 years at most on religious centers that aren't the actual religious centers for the heresy. I think it's ridiculous that with that amount of conversion power you can't convert any province.

Right, through Offensive and Diplomacy policies aswell as another boost in Admin tech I boosted my conversion to 22.2%.
Romes current defenses is 21.5%

As such I'm converting at a 0.7% rate and it will be done in 7 years rather than 28. Still pissed but, I can live with 7. Also, Byzantine Empire is fuckin brilliant at converting.
