I have tried many times playing Byzantium with many strategies without Divine Wind, but now that I have bought the complete pack in Steam I need to know how can I face the ottoman big ships and the new allies cascade war system which overwhelms me.

Thanks

War with Epireus and annex before Naples do that.
War with small countries in Asia Minor and annex. It's fairly easy to have 6-7 provinces.
Wait for Ottomans to start loosing war with horde and only then attack them.
Avoid bordering horde until you can fight them. If they come concede defite at the beggining of the war. They are busy, they'll accept.
Poblem is with Venice. Wait for them to have a lot of trouble with rebels (they allways do) and then attack or send spies to create more rebels.
Do not care for prestige (it will be low for a very long time).
Do not anex anything without your core.
Try to westernize as soon as posible (about 1500). Later in the game extens a lot of influens and make peace by revoking it (it's 20pts, usually one or two countries out of your sphere will buy you peace)
Complete missions to get cores in Itally anda lot of other staff.

Just today I tried playing with Byzantium with latest patch. Go for Candar on day 1. Mint constantly and make new units. During your war go for Ramazan check their allies and allies of allies since you might end up fighting Ottomans. Move your new units to Ramazan and attack Karaman. Annex them all. You will most probably be in war with Timurids, try to concede defeat. I was able to concede defeat if not pay them. Don't ally anybody at first. Check Ottomans, mostly they don't give up fighting with Timurids. Recruit some more units and dow them. In the first war, I was not able to get a complete victory so I settled with two provinces which I didn't lay siege on -just go after Edirne. Try to divide their lands.

I tried that, but the Timurids were being wiped out by Trebizond and other countries. Then, the Venezian navy defeated my navy and I surrendered as the provinces I got were falling.

It was not only EUIII, but HoI3,Victoria 2,etc. By the way, that is not of your business, I have written here to ask for help, not for gossip.

He misunderstood and thought you had EUIII Complete, which doesn't contain Heir to the Throne or Divine Wind, rather than the Paradox Complete Pack bundle (on Steam?) which contains all these games. I fail to see how you could construe Tambourinesnake's post as gossip, though.

My problem with Byzantium is the Hordes. I cant beat them and unless I win a battle or occupy a province they wont even accept tribute. After the first expansion I really need to recuperate and lose all that WE and being constantly in war just makes it impossible.. I've quit too many a game because of that stupid GH stack of doom coming from Romania .. >.>

Asking things which are not of his business. I said gossip instead of another word that would have been even worse.

You said you had complete, which is a pack that does not include divine wind. If you can not see how easy it is to figure that you don't have Divine Wind, then you need to step back. It was a, very obvious, honest mistake, your reaction was completely out of line.

1) At start of game send fleet to sea, jump on with your troops. Sail to coast near Epirus, attack them asap. Than you desant Epirus first, you will be in charge of siege before Naples do it.
2) Conquere minor Turk states. Keep all the time build fleet.
3) Dont attack OTTOMANS! They are your buffor so the hordes dont eat your lands to early.
4) Set slider to max minting to get fast some money. Dont worry about inflation untill its before 7-8%.
5) Than you accumulate money start rebels in Rhodos, Crete, Cyprus, Athens, Naxos, Achea, Corfu. More lands = more money = more manpower = larger army.
6) If some horde border you, try to make peace with pay tribute. Its waste of time to fight this bloobs than other can do that.
7) Than you have pay tribute to Golden Horde, and Timurids, eventually Quara. Its time to kick Ottomans.
8) Untill that time you should have enought fleet to kick ass Ottoman, and block passage from Anatoly. Start rebels in Greece and occupy Bulgarian lands. Wait than all rebels pass to you.
9) Again more more money and bigger army to set. Time to take care Asia Minor.
10) Wait than hordes start falling to take they lands.

Well, that's the gay way to do it.

Myself I would start conquering muslim nations in a smart and efficient way. Tripoli and Tunisia, then move against Algiers and Morocco. (But yes avoid nations allied with the Ottomans, go for easy pickings to begin with). (Syria is fun ally to have)

Your orthodox neighbours are also an option. Georgia and Russia for example.

Asap you should get out and get colonials though, to better your income and your supply limit.

Also if you are able and have the money build a fleet to block off the ottomans (or wait until they are in war with timurids or castille) and just grab some.

You start as empire, use that holy war CB wisely! Fawk those rebels, be like Alexander the Great! See the movie "Alexander" for reference, you don't have to kiss a number of dudes though, let's leave that to Drattius and his rebels.
