Can one of you answer this ?. Is there more unit sprites in the game than are in teh demo. I think it was really bad that they used one plane model and tank model for any plane or tank ?

It is quite simple once you get the hang of it. See the little blue and red icons attached to each research team? Those are the specific areas of expertise of each respective team (for example, a pair of gears indicates "Technical Efficiency"). Every technology has five similar icons attached to them, representing intermediate technological breakthroughs that all need to be completed before the technology as a whole is ready to be applied. Thus, you assign a research team to each technology you wish to research, and the more icons you can match between the team and the technology, the faster it will be finished. The game helps you out with this by outlining the desired icons with a green frame to help you match the best team to the technology you wish to research.

EDIT: here is an additonal screenshot that might help explain the concept further, it is from my current 1936 scenario as Germany. Note that Guderian is especially adept at researching Blitzkrieg tactics - surprise, surprise. :p

I see you are researching ahead of time, how long did it take to complete that particular tech?

IIRC the research does one subtech at a time right? how much different was Forward air controllers in comparision with Lowlevel independent commands and advanced infantry-armor cooperation? is there a large difference in researchtime between red and blue?

There seem to be 2 mispelled province names in Latvia, by the way. Not a big deal, but somewhat weird. As always, of course, Latvia got owned by the mapmakers in terms of general shape ;)

@Piddelito,

your screenshot with the research of Blitzkrieg looks great. Guderian matches four of the five special capabilities. The three red special capabilities are ready. The blue capability whit the gearing wheels are also ready, but Guderian hasn't this capability, why is it ready? Work the five research teams together? and so they can deliver this special capability, that Guderian doesn't have? And why are the red capabilities sooner ready than the blue one with the book?

rich-love: yes, research cost money to function efficiently. Money is generated by having your consumer goods slider set higher than the required level (ie the surplus is transformed to money) or through trade with other nations. Money is also required whenever you want to perform a diplomatic action.

Usually_Insane: do you mean the Blitzkrieg Doctrine tech? No, that particular one is not finished yet, but it soon will be. I think the historical dates are there for informational purposes only, someone correct me if I am wrong. One subtech at a time, from top to bottom. I have not noted any difference in research time when it comes to subtech components, but I think they depend on the expertise of the research team. I have no idea about the difference between the blue and red icons, but considering only specific military persons have red subtech icons I guess they are doctrinal.

jimmyricken: It is true that Guderian lack the expertise in "Tecnical Efficiency" (the blue icon with two gears), but he can still make progress in that particular subtech, albeit at a slower pace. I have no idea about the order of the progress through the subtechs, but since you need all five to complete the research it does not matter - you only have to decide which tech you want to research, allocate a team and the game takes care of the rest as soon as you provide adequate funding. :)

Hey everyone, as an avid fan of HoI1 (and C.O.R.E.) and long time reader of the forums, couldn't stop myself from becoming an active poster (I joined a while ago so I could use search functions and tag threads, etc..., but not really a poster till now)

This game is looking to be one of the best I've played ever. Thanks for all the screenshots. Can't wait to get my hands on it! P.S. My first game is gonna be as Canada (gotta love our neighbor to the north). Care to attach a screenie to see their overall tech status (the overview screenshot would be great) and how many (few :p )tech teams (choices and total active at one point) they have? All this so I can plan "Grand" strategy ;)

Oh and hows the diplo in this game? Screenshots of that screen would be great.

The placement of Tallin and Riga seems a bit off too, they are after all port cities...or am I nitpicking? :)
