I mean mods, you get the idea, blah blah blah. Here's a few I can think of:

Roman Empire (rise? or fall?)
Vikings
maybe WW1/WW2 (detailed map of Europe)
Charlemagne

Two things I would like to see as mods or scenarios :

a) France, the period 1559-1661; to replay the Wars of Religion, the bickering among aristocracy until the Frondes and the majority of Louis XIV.

b) The whole Thirthy Years War (1610-1650).

I would like to do a Scenerio where Harald Haldradi of Norway defeats Godwinson in 1066 and then marches South and defeats Williams the Bastard as well. It would be....interesting to say the least :p

One that includes the struggle to control the Austrian lands after the death of their native dynasty. The Habsburgs eventually won out, thus establishing their base of power, but the Czechs (under Ottakar II, IIRC) actually controlled it for a while.

I know that Orders are not playable :(....

but I would really like to be able to play the Templars and see if I could keep them from becoming "burnt out":p in France...or maybe even leading them to the British Isles and somehow returning to France.

There are 2 I really want to play that I probably wont have to mod much if at all:

1. The Holy Roman Empire (1125-): When Henry V dies, I'll enforce the Staufen hereditary right and make sure Lothair never takes the throne. Civil war, 2nd Crusade, Barbarossa's 6 campaigns into Italy, 3rd Crusade, Henry VI's conquest of Sicily, fun, fun, fun.

One question though; can I start as Frederick I and establish my dynasty in the Duchy of Swabia (1079), or if I start early, will I have to play as the Salians (not that Id mind)? Can you start as a non-royal noble family and gradually build your way up to the crown (intermarriage with royalty, service to the king, etc.) or do you always have to play the king?

2. The Angevin Empire: For this one I might as well start as the Normans since Im sure there will be historical events to cover Matilda's Angevin marriage, Henry's Aquitanian marriage, etc. Big difference will hopefully be that John wont succeed Richard. If I can just impregnate Berengaria...:p

Oh, and I guess I'll let VC Limoges keep his treasure and stay the hell away from Chalus...;)

There are gonna be a lot of people disappointed with CKs lack of historical happenings.

Huh? I assumed not all royal marriages would be events, but I figured those two (Matilda & Geoffrey Plantagenet, Henry II & Eleanor) were on the scale of Maximilian's marriage to Mary of Burgundy, since they implied large-scale inheritance of lands (like the Burgundian Inheritance event in EU2) and altered the balance of power on the Continent.

I guess I thought Henry VI's marriage to Constance de Hauteville would also be an event since it effectively decided the fate of the Kingdom of Sicily.

And what about Louis VII's divorce? That wont be an event? Then how will I get my hands on Eleanor and Aquitaine?

But there are still events, right? So I can script one if I want to cover them?

Well assuming I can still somehow trigger certain events (Eleanor), that might not be so bad.

Ive several times considered removing all events from EU2 and just playing it free-form like any other strategy game without any sort of "guidance". Like could I start as Austria 1492 and reunite Germany before the Thirty Years War? Or for that matter as Brandenburg-Prussia and do it several centuries before Bismarck?

Hmmm....

There'll be random events for sure, but historical events (according to what the devs have said thus far) are not in the scope of CK. This isn't a matter of scripting them, the game itself is based on the concept of dynamic family trees.

So in 1066, all the historical monarchs and whatnot will be in the game, but after that it will start to deviate from actual history. So although Alp Arslan will be around as the ruler of Seldjuks at the start of the game, his descendant Kilic Arslan probably won't be around to fight against the crusaders.

Thanks for clearing that up guys. Ok, Tuna, so then if I really want to simulate the situation in say 1154, Id have to create a scenario of my own that changed starting positions and family relations and such?

Assuming its as easy to edit as EU2 or HoI, I guess I can handle that...

In which case, I guess my first post wasnt OT at all! To answer the original thread question, those are the 2 "mod" scenarios I'll make first: the Rise of the Hohenstaufen (1125-) and the Angevin Empire (1135/54-). :D
