What playthroughs are you most looking forward too?

Best of luck. I was never able to successfully win as Poland in the basic start. I could stop Germany, sure, but eventually either the Russians or the Germans got me...

The HOI series has always been a lot less sandboxy than the other flagship series of Paradox, but I am hopeful that this one will have more sand to go with it.

Poland was criminally unrepresented in HOI3. After Germany took Warsaw the country fell and their army disappeared, however in reality Poland fielded the 4th largest Allied army and was the only nation to fight at Normandy, Arden, Tobruch, Leningrad, Monte Cassino, and Berlin (not to mention their critical role in the Battle of Britain). I hope HOI4 has a better gov-in-exile system because Poland really deserves better.

Good Guy Germany - After Anchluss I will switch to democracy and do everything possible to stop WWII.

I suspect a change of ideology for Germany will land you a rather hot civil war in your hands.

I think it would be the perfect springboard to Operation Unthinkable.
- Civil War in Germany between Democrats and Nazis.
- UK and France supports Democracy
- Italy supports the nazis
- The USSR sees the opportunity.

My first one will probably be plain old Italy just to get the hang of new mechanics and the like.

But the one I'm most looking forward to isn't country specific. I'm looking forward to creating a mess of things through political power, coups and more.

Chaos will reign and I'll be laughing my guts out(hopefully)

I'll probably try to form a Fascist EU of sorts with Germany. I'll ally with China and try to persuade France to join.

I'll keep a check on world tension and do my best to get all of Europe apart from the UK into the Axis peacefully or via coups.

Poland will be offered Slovakia for Danzig. I'll send lend-lease and voluntary forces wherever I can, especially in China if that's possible.

After the FEU forms and China wins the land war in Asia, I'll attack the UK and USSR subsequently.

If everything goes well, the USA will be the only thing left between me and World domination.

I'll play in non-historical mode to see if the AI would have the common sense to get Japan and the US fighting together against the common enemy.

And of course India, with a huge army, a decent navy, reindustrialization by 1945, and kicking the Britons out and send them back running to their tiny island.

Did I miss something? Is India a selectable nation in HOI4? It sure isn't in HOI3...

It'd be awesome to fight a war of independence during WWII. I mean, you'd be doing the Axis a huge favor, and you'd basically be able to secure SE Asia, and the Middle East from India. That would lock down a massive portion of the world. Really, it could also be a backdoor into Russia.

So many choices to consider. But, in order to learn a new gaming system, I have decided as USSR as my 1st game. That way i will learn the land and air systems during the horrors of the War in the East! Then, its off to fight the War in the Pacific as Japan, to learn the naval combat system of this game. The 3rd game, IDK yet. Might take Italy, France or China, to see if my minor power can defeat a major power. This game is going to be a BLAST! Is it out yet? How about now? Now? Really, now?

I'm really looking forward to playing as Poland. It won't be easy, with a menacing savage to the west and a bloodthirsty monster to the east, but I will defend the nation until the last man, and hopefully, destroy the Reich altogether.

Among my favorites in HOI III at least has been rebuilding the Austro-Hungarian Empire with Czechoslovakia, joining the Axis at the Munich Conference, and then trolling Britain in Egypt/Israel/Palestine. 12/10 would undo Versailles again.

However, I'd really like to play as Turkey and rebuild the Ottoman Empire...

I'm looking forward to trying to build the historical German armed forces by the outbreak of war. In HOI3 I could easily build the German OB of mid 1940 by early 1939, including corps troops and Wehrkreis forces, and have a much stronger than historical navy.

Same for the Netherlands. After their nation was overrun by the Germans their government-in-exile still kept up all-Dutch fighter squadrons in Britain that played a role in Europe.
