What playthroughs are you most looking forward too?

I love crazy alternate history scenarios. What crazy playthoughs are you guys looking forward to? Personally.....

Republican Spain - Not too crazy, but it's a start.

Revanchist Ireland - Northern Ireland will be free!

Japan Wins the Pacific - I've been doing some reading and they really dropped the ball in the Pacific. I can do better. I can also do it with less atrocities and more "conquering California."

Good Guy Germany - After Anchluss I will switch to democracy and do everything possible to stop WWII.

Viva la Revolucion - Central America and the Caribbean united under Mexican Communists. If possible, take back the territory ceded to America in the Mexican-US War.

But the run I'm looking forward to the most? The creme de la creme? Ultra-Finland.

Kola. Karelia. The Baltic states. For a cherry on top, Scandinavia. Finland will be the true victor of WWII.

Nice ideas. I am more a player of major nations, mostly germany. In HoI3 I played about 40 games with germany, 1 usa , 1 japan, 1 uk, 1 russia, 1 poland, 1 italy, 1 romania, 1 france. So it is relativ easy to see which will be my 1st-10th playthrough^^

france. with the new freedoms given the the political structure of HOI4, as well as the base improvements to diplomacy, france seems like she would be a fun choice, being fleshed out for both ahistorical and historical games

in hoi3 the initial challenge of france was very fun but you did not have the choice of doing much more than getting conquered if you wanted your game to... work.

Looking for pure world domination as Germany. Sealion in 41', why not!!! Barbarossa in 42'or 43', thats the ticket! Going to support Finland ALOT more during the Winter War, with the new volunteer and lend lease features (TY HOI IV devs!!!). Nothing truly alternate to what was tried, just differant timeline. And of course differant strategy

I cant wait to unleash the industrial and manpower might of the soviet union upon the capitalist pigs and bring the workers paradise to Europe, Asia, and eventually USA. I know Marx said it was suppose to happen naturally, but helping things along cant hurt, right?. I will use my political points to send agents ahead of my armies to promote the ideals of communism. Updates to the UI and new methods of commanding millions of troops will allow me to rule the world with ease!!!!

Hopefully it will be possible to unite China under Mao in HOI4 since that was incredibly difficult to do in HOI3. Also, Fascist Turkey conquering the Middle East and Egypt from the Imperialist westerners

I am looking forward most to getting into the series. I have played a ton of EUIV and CK2.

My first play through I hope to do multiplayer with my friend and us play as Germany and Italy. Or play the Allies and play as UK and France and stop Germany in its tracks.

Then it would be fun to try some alternative history stuff.

Best of luck. I was never able to successfully win as Poland in the basic start. I could stop Germany, sure, but eventually either the Russians or the Germans got me...

I'm looking forward to a standard Germany game to start. But, after that, uniting China as the communists, or a world takeover as the Soviets, or perhaps even a reborn Roman Empire as the Italians. Heck, why stop there - lets do a reborn and expanded Ottoman Empire.

The HOI series has always been a lot less sandboxy than the other flagship series of Paradox, but I am hopeful that this one will have more sand to go with it.

Oh, and of course, I'd like to take Sweden and unite Scandinavia. If the Allies are nice, I'd love to go and assist them in their invasion of the USSR... We shall see....

All of 'em . As Jaredstanko well mentioned, there's a lot of scope for some very interesting situations with France. I'm also quite curious about how a UK playthrough would go if it went down the secure Iraq - secure Iran - war with the USSR national focus path - that seems like a fairly tall order, and could make for an enjoyably challenging game/shelacking.

I just dream of an AI that will present a challenge for me. I want as the US to be hit hard by the Japanese navy, and German subs. I also really hope for there to be some sort of unified allied command where all the allies work under one centralized leadership in Europe like they historically did. That for me would make playing the allies fun. Instead I typically play as Japan, or Germany, and then sometimes as the USSR. But I grow tired of the same old strategy over and over again.

All I can say is that in HOI II, with the World In Flames mod, I was stalemated in Russia as Germany. That was a heck of a good game. I really look forward to being challenged by the AI without the AI cheating.

Swiss. I will see, how well the ki-nations can deal as a global player. And I'm interesting to play in south America. All nations focused to the war in Europe and give me the chance to create a important nation in the word.

After a few games I might try a Greek game to secure the eastern med and show Italy who the true founders of civilisation are.

Most excited? Like JoshRTR, I am a newb, so I am excited to just get started. Here are a few thoughts:

Relatively historical:

Germany - After Fall of France, go defensive in Europe rather than going for Battle of Britan. Try to turn the tables from reality so that Fortress Europe plays the part of Britain and Britain plays the part of Germany in Battle of Britain. Develop more advanced radar so that French and German forces know when British aircraft are coming. Shoot down British aircraft over French and German soil, so that British pilots are slowly lost. Hopefully, this can be accomplished with fewer assets than an attack on Britain.

Instead, redeploy those assets to North Africa and the Mediterranean to assist Italy. Try to kick British out of Mediterranean (easier said than done, since I have no plan for defeating the RN - maybe with a redesigned Luftwaffe that would be more effective against naval vessels?). Take or ally Turkey, then take Egypt and the Middle East. After that, USSR from South as well as West. Something like that.

Japan - Try to win Midway rather than losing the entire war there. Perhaps try to get some of the U.S. aircraft carriers out of the war when or soon after Pearl Harbor happens. I don't know if it will be at all possible to figure out where naval vessels of opponents are located, but that was my first thought. I don't know what else they can do. It seems like Japan was pretty successful historically until Midway.

France - Extend Maginot Line and see if you can stop Germany. This just sounds randomly fun to me. It might be masochistic depending on how buffed Germany is versus reality.

Completely ahistorical:

Germany - Ally with USSR vs The World. Enough said.
USA - Go fascist and extend Manifest Destiny to all of North America - This might actually be really boring. What would stop you? I guess what you do after that would be where it might be interesting. Maybe join with Japan for WC?

I don't have a fun idea for UK.
