What paths do you think Italy and the Soviet Union will or won't have in their focus trees?

Crown and church in many countries got along but in Italy they could not stand one another, a pair of kings were even excommunicated for the "crime" of occupying rome which the pope thought his own. VE III was profoundly secular and even a little anticlerical...

Yeah after doing some reading it looks like the Catholic Church ended up backing a Catholic party for parliament back in early 1900s before the fascists split it in half. So I guess the Church will end up sort of chilling in the background for most paths

I think we could have 3 democratic paths

1) Conservative Republican: Christian democratic party under de gasperi with pro democratic germany leanings
2) Liberal Monarchist: the pre-fascism ruling class is recalled by the king and picks up back from 1922, sympathy for UK but otherwise opportunistic and pro-colonial foreign policy
3) Progressive, with the guy who already rules italy if you flip democratic, decolonisation and pro popular front-French foreign policy, including the liberation of oppressed peoples
