What paths do you think Italy and the Soviet Union will or won't have in their focus trees?

UK, France and Japan have all 4 ideology paths in their focus trees.
But Germany doesn't have a communist path and USA doesn't have a monarchist path.

So what will be the case for Italy and the Soviet Union?
They will obviously have their historical paths, but will one or both countries have the option to go down all 3 alternate ideologies?
Or will they be missing one like Germany and USA?

Personally I think Italy will have all 4 paths, but the soviet union I'm not sure on. I don't know how a fascist path would work for them.

What are your thoughts?

For Italy I hope there is a possibilty for a "true" fascist path, where Mussolini achieves total power unlike IRL where he had to compose with the monarchy, the Church, opponents in the army etc...

For Italy, A path where the King removes Mussolini and the Fascist party from power after the Ethiopia war is all but guaranteed. It is pretty much THE most obvious alt-history possibility.

Shouldn't Italy have a decision to protect Austria from anchluss? Also Germany should get a claim on südtirol IF Italy or Hungary creates a faction like pact of rome or the novaeu romanesque empire thing faction to create tension between the two, and potential for conflict.

All of that would most likely be in Italy's alternate fascist path. Mussolini didn't want Austria to be part of Germany, and he threatened to send troops into Austria if Hitler tried to take it by force.

Trotski path for SU where the SU antagonizes everyone. Maybe a republic somehow? There are no ways in which that would make sense but...

Maybe there will be a civil war for the SU to become democratic. Then during the civil war all the countries that are part of the SU like Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia ect become independent. Then Russia can form its own faction and invite all their previous owned countries to join it.

Italy should definitely get a Monarchist path, and will probably get the other two. I don't know how likely or possible a Communist turn in Italian politics would be, but considering the Italians voted to not be a monarchy after the war, I feel comfortable saying that a Democratic branch would be plausible.

I wouldn't mind Italy not having a Communist branch at all (a lot of the Communist alt-history NF paths are downright terrible in this game anyway) if, instead, we got a more fleshed out fascist branch. I really, really want to see Mussolini stop huffing his own farts and join the Allies. Joining Germany was not a popular choice at the time, and a lot of Itallian fascists would have preferred to stick with their old Entente partners. A fascist branch that takes that into account would be great. Just completely drop that do-nothing Spanish alliance branch (Franco wouldn't have allied with anyone for a variety of reasons) and put a "Fascist, but much less derpy" branch there instead.

I think that in Italy there will be all options for the development of events. This is facilitated by the presence of a large number of opposition politicians inside the country, as well as the nature and history of the fascist regime.
As for the USSR, I think that there will be a "German" version. An alternative branch of the Trotskyists, democratization and conditional "neutrals".

2.) aggressive Mussolini path (fascist)
3.) British aligned fascist path under balbo

shared between some of the paths will be
1.) fight Anschluss (2 and 3)
2.) deal with Yugoslavia and the Balkans (1 and 2)
3.) negotiate with the British (1 and 3)

Also a
4.) monarchist-Catholic church diarchy path (nonaligned)
5.) monarchist-Democratic path
6.) maybe a communist path somehow, though I suspect it’ll be connected to the Italian-Soviet alliance

Path number 6 could be a republican Path divide between a democratic referendum to replace the monarchy or a comunist takeover to eliminate it

Being Italian, I know the situation in my country very well. Mussolini, was "pushed" into Hitler's arms due to the hypocrisy of France and the UK. It was Mussolini (and not the "allies" who surely would not have done anything) who prevented the annexation of Austria in 34. Mussolini entered the war very unprepared (and he knew it too) because the war was almost over. NO ONE, I repeat NO ONE, would have thought that the UK would continue the war. The phrase "with a few hundred deaths we will sit among the winners". There is also the fact that until 1915 Italy was allied with the powers of the central empires. And in 1915 he betrayed his allies for the other faction. Mussolini was obsessed not to repeat the "betrayal of 15" and obviously did not trust the UK and France, because after the war against Italy the crumbs of the booty of the central empires went. So Italy tried to do the same "trick" that went well in 1915: jump on the winners' wagon and take the loot. What Churchill did (to wait almost 2 years for US intervention) was UN THINKABLE! If in 1914, the Germans had not moved their troops from the Western Front too soon, thinking they had already liquidated France, if they had entered Paris, most likely, both France and (most likely the UK) would have surrendered. The same mentality was there in 39: if France falls, we win. I do not want to open a discussion on the idea of the generals' betrayal for the king (that during the "years of consent", Mussolini was not dismissable from the king even if he wanted to, so Mussolini needed to lose popularity and what could be better than lose a war?) and the like ... but ... Diplomatically, Italy could start running alone in 43 (when the first real tanks started to come out, but by now the war was lost and too few were produced either projects remained, or the projects were modified to facilitate the retrieval of resources, see the P40 which initially more powerful than the one that came out of the industries. Or the p43 remained only at the design stage).

if it is it should be laid out similar to the Mexican focus tree (one of the best ones) so you can get different governments despite going down the same path

the thing I really hope for is a dynamic foreign policy for Italy. They tried that for Romania, with mixed results, but I hope Italy’s foreign policy is a set of decisions unlocked by focuses that you can activate as the situation changes

I hope there's an aggressive SU path, one in which you go for an early war, and Germany and the Allies ally against communism.
I really doubt there will be anything other than communism in the SU tree. Italy will probably have them all

There really needs to be an aggressive Soviet Union path to balance out Democratic Germany or non-aligned britains’ path. Something the AI can activate that allows them to compete with radical changes to the balance of power

If La Resistance is the new standard, Russia and Italy should get huge focus trees.

For Italy I guess we will see a political branch of the focus tree that will have an enormous amount of paths and with all possile kind of alliances and war goals.
I wouldn't be surpised if Italy got some economical and military debuffs that can be removed via focus tree.

As for Russia the obvious choice would be communism in one country (Stalin) and world revolution (Trotsky). Perhaps going so far as to get two completely different (political-economical) paths in the style of the Spanish focus tree.
Russia also deserves a separate military focus branch (maybe blocked by/connected to Great Purge?) that give the player finger-licking good buffs but also very hard exclusive choices.
Personally I think there should be something in the Russian focus tree (or a decision) if Germany invades Poland without Molotov-Ribbentrop pact in place.
It doesn't make sense that in many of my games Germany ends up conquering everything up to Russia's western border and this is all fine with Moscow.
Also I would like to have the Soviets to be able to initiate the Molotov-Ribentrop pact in their focus tree.
