What on earth have you guys done to the launcher?

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-HOI4
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/HOI4 AND Documents/Paradox/HOI4 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add HOI4.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam HOI4 or Documents HOI4 locations, before installing again.

I've just finished doing it, and all that happened was that I wasted a day downloading and reinstalling hoi4, and me learning that it also happens on EU4.

This means that it is, as the title and my actual post imply, the launcher creating the problem, not any particular game.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the launcher to get around the error message again, but for whatever reason the launcher now refuses to reinstall (via steam), so whenever I try launching any game requiring the launcher, it says "Could not locate any valid installation of the Paradox Launcher. Please try again."

This means I can no longer play any paradox game requiring the launcher.

Please help. Any advice on how to manually install the launcher? And if that is successful (and the same error occurs), how to revert to a version that actually works?
