It would be really interesting if they could try and provide the same level of risk and uncertainty for secret weapons that actually existed (sort of), where there are a number of tracks of research for secret weapons, each requiring specific resources that can be cut off.

But the key point is that the tracks that actually work are randomly decided at the start of the game. So nukes might not actually be possible but something else might, and you don't know until you start investing in it. I know the underlying science for nukes was sort of understood, but not enough to make it a no brainer for all powers in 1936. This could let them add all kinds of cool features and technologies that don't exist or didn't at the time, and add a new level of competition and a great platform for adding in intelligence, because you'll definitely want to know what other people are doing and if they have information on which tracks are viable.

So you could end a game finding out that nukes are impossible, battlefield mind control drugs or the "gay bomb" are possible, and germany's massive investment into "dogs with the minds of people" was just a waste of time.
