Just DLC that adds more depth I guess.
Areas like warfare, peacetime, espionage, diplomacy, politics, 'rebels', logistics etc.. basically the whole game.
Sort of like what they're doing with EU4. They start with a base game and bring out patches/DLC that makes the game more indepth, adds more features, takes features and splits them into several features etc..

Since it's not out yet I can't say for sure what I'll want since I haven't seen all the parts in motion. That being said there will doubtless be some tweaks and adjustments that I'll want to see made after playing it.

The only things that come to mind that I've heard nothing about are a comprehensive scenario editor and ahistorical event chains. Some of the ahistorical event chains are probably going to be included through the Focuses from what I've seen, but I'd like to see a wide variety of options. For instance a non-Soviet Russia, Fascist US or France, things like that.

Another thing that I'm not sure is present in a comprehensive form that I'd like would be a military intelligence add-on that greatly expands the options and depth of espionage and general military intelligence. I can see it being quite engrossing if done right, trying to balance your options to give you the best mix of big-picture intelligence with battlefield level advantages. Including recon planes and special operations units being dropped behind the lines. Could be cool.

And of course National Dog DLC.

I think it would be cool if they did a community national focus contest for the community moders. Then have the community vote first the best ones to become a dlc.

  • OOB DLC - A bit like it was in HOI3 - but perhaps a choice if you want the HQ units on map or not
  • Maps DLC - making the map looking like a WW2 era map or other different types
  • National focus DLC - from various countries, I personally is only interested in Europe though
  • Editor DLC - easier to make your own mods than having to write everything in text files
  • Oil/Supply DLC
  • Counters DLC - normal counters, german type symbols, nato symbols etc - more choices
  • Air Combat DLC - for some reason, this is one of the things I seem to not like about the game (allthough havent tested it myself) - it just seems "bland" to me from what I have seen on stream etc.
  • Events DLC - more events, a lot more, both cosmetic and real events that actually mean something
  • Waffen SS DLC - like in some mods from HOI3
  • Generals/Leaders DLC - don't know how many is in the game from start though
  • Political DLC - the politics seems a bit simplified in the game, would love more choices here, like parties etc. Could also come bundled with events: banning some parties or if a democratic nation, the opposition could have more power
  • Divisional leaders DLC - I love it from HOI3 (could be automated too, like you don't have the power to decide who controls what division)
  • Divisional traits - like leaders gain traits, I would love if divisions also could gain traits (and loose them again if enough manpower is lost form that division)

Unfortunately a date earlier than 1936 isn't going to happen. The devs feel that any date before '36 is less of a "WW2 situation" and more of a "rise of the Nazis" which they obviously don't want.
For the game at release, I dare say they will make an 1933 start date expansion.

It would top charts of most wanted expansion, who doesn`t want to try to hold Weimar Germany together and rally the rest of the west against the Soviet menace ?
Crush an open revolt led by a certain Austrian in the process.

I've heard it said more than once that the devs have said they won't do that. And honestly I don't think I disagree. A player running a major from '33 basically guarantees a win.

Yes, for the game at launch, did they also excluded any any chance of doing a 1933 in an eventual expansion ?

Judging by the number of expansions EU 4 or CK 2 has it is safe to say that HOI 4 will get at the very least 10 expansions.

Not having a 1933 centered expansion down the road is madness.

And I actually think they can balance a 1933 by what I saw until now.

Custom / Sandbox DLC: create a custom game, choose your start tech/units etc (Hoi3 made a really nice thing there). I would also love (and insta-buy) if there is an option to "create" your own nation, like its in EU4 now. To select provinces it gets at the start, name it, color/flag, etc.
Another thing that would be awesome for Multiplayer is a "Balanced" game start. That maybe isn t historical but balances out the major Nations and tryes to give everyone the same starting chances (could be combined with with the custom start)

Complete Sandbox DLC: (the "highest" form of my desires *-*) Give an option to make a complete custom start. Just put a completely unoccupied map in there and let the players/ or even NPCs pic provinces they want to have at the start. (maybe could be a system close to the peace conference, with points to spend)

Extended Air Combat DLC:
Gives the complete Air Combat a bit more depth, let the player give direct commands to his Air wings and tell them to do what in which province or against which enemy

Special Forces DLC: More unit types, more specialised Units, making up for a bigger variety and to oppertunity to "specialise" your Army for fighting in Specific areas/situations

Industry and Trading DLC: Actually doesn t need much explaination i guess (looking to such "mega threads") oil, complexer Trading mechanics, Money, more depth in terms of Industry

Ultra-complete Sandbox: Let the player add in every country in the world, (or use the standard map as a template, allowing them to rebuild their Vicky 2 or even EU4 with the Victorian era. Given the possibilities with flags are virtually endless (as in, all countries' flags are chooseable, 2 tricolore choices (vertical and horizontal) where you select the colors yourself in a color picker, United States flag with all colors pickable, 1 up to 200 stars and 2 up to 25 stripes, with a fasces or eagle added to it (I would be able to choose) (in the blue box in the US case, in the middle if tricolore) if fascist and a hammer and sickle or star (choosable between the two, also possible to choose neither if the US flag) if communist, as well as being able to pick alternate colors for the two variants. 25 or more different weapons to add to the tricolore, including at least 10 medieval shields with a small again customizable flag in it, some religious signs and possibility to type something. all natural flags possible for the choosing including their ideological variants in the basegame and being able to add any flag also in tiny form on a background of a color of your choosing (comparable to the flag of Australia) and we'd be able to upload our worlds to the Steam Workshop I'd pay at least 50€ for it. I'm afraid though that I'm the only one...

@Shatterfury they said multiple times that they won´t do a "the Nazi rise" dlc, what basicly would be start from 1933, not much else happenend in this timeframe.
1933 start is far more used as a way to play as non-Nazi Germany.

There are a lot of us who don`t want to play Nazi Germany but want to simply play Germany and an 1936 start is too late for such a game.

HoI4 will have expansions added to it for years, the chances of them not doing a 1933 start date expansion are rather low.

Paradox wants to generate revenue and a lot of us want to bring Teutonic flavoured Freedom and plant the Black, Red and Yellow on the Kremlin.
I don`t know why would you have something against that.

A commander update/overhaul. Make it so that commanders gain XP and then instead of them auto bumping in command number or gaining traits you can choose them similar to how experience is spent on creating unit types.

More focus on Aces/Air Commanders

An Advanced radio unit or more likely equipment that augments artillery support and Close Air support bonuses to a division. Something similar to how the infantry equipment levels up and so does support equip, have something that updates the radio companies.

You mean like Forward Air/Arty Controller? I like this idea as a support company. Sounds really nice

I haven't seen it myself, but my understanding is that they didn't say they can't, they said they won't. If they refuse to do it at launch they'll probably refuse to do it period. There's always a chance they'll change their minds, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Would be better done as an alt-history '36 IMO. Create a complete alternate history for what happened, presuming the road to war was still in place, which it would be, and go from that. No reason to go to the trouble of extending the playtime.

I'm rubbing my money on the screen and nothing is happening...

Imo a lot of what's already been mentioned is great but fits into full expansions, mods, or patches. I'll take the usual DLC stuff like graphics and music.

They refused a lot of things and then they implemented it.
Plus, I`m not asking for the "Rise of Nazi party" expansion... .

Not the same thing.
Why not have the game start 1 month away from 8 may 1945 if you put it that way.

Another idea, which should be patched in instead of being sold as DLC, would be a Heartsopedia. Basically like the Civilopedias of the Civilization series. I'm assuming that 4 will also have a bunch of opaque, unexplained bits like "Basing efficiency" or "Radar efficiency"

They did that in 2 IIRC as an Operation Unthinkable start for the war. Not a bad idea, though I'd prefer to start earlier if I was gonna go to war with the Soviets, starve them of that sweet, sweet Lend-Lease.
