As Podcat said "there will be more focus on shaping and leveling the guys you have", can we think there will still be leader traits and even more of them ?

Here are some traits (the name is not important) I would like, what are yours ?

Charismatic: gives a bonus to organization regain rate (like the "school of psychology" chief of staff gives).

Pathfinder: a specialist in maps that diminishes the penalties in bad terrain (maybe only for commando type troops).

Helldriver: gives a speed bonus.

EDIT: Innovative/open minded = need less time to gain traits.

No idea of names, but I'd like to see traits for amphibious landings and paradrops. For the navy I think a sub-hunter trait and a carrier task force trait would be good too - reflecting the different tactics required for different ship types that are handled.

Sub-hunter yes. As there is a sea wolf trait that would be logic to reflect that by mid to late war, not only ASW devices got better, but naval leaders got experience and developed tactics against subs. Same could be said for carrier tactics that were developed during the war when the carriers became much more than a support for a fleet but the centerpiece of some fleets.

I want a return of the Panzer Leader and a removal of the Battle Master.

Commando needs to be changed. Imho it should give a bonus to special unit types (marine, mountaineers, paratroopers), instead of decreasing the effect of being out of supply.

Can't we just include all the personality traits from CK2 and be done with it? :)

Churchill can be a drunkard. Stalin can be paranoid. Hitler can be a lunatic. Rommel can be a brilliant strategist. FDR can be maimed. MacArthur can be proud. And Mussolini can be an imbecile.

What other traits could you possibly need?

What about Manstein? He probably was a better general than Rommel or at least on his level.

The commando trait should give bonus to out supply, marine combat efficiency and paratrooper combat effiency

Nuts More likely to make bad decisions
War veteran More likely to support a war
Patriot More likely to take action against bad things happening in a country

Carrier leader for the navy. easy to implement as there are not so many officers affected. just ENG, USA, FRA, JAP

Victoria 2 also has good ones, my english vocabulary was expanded, or would have if I was swearing or calling names more often *-). Like brownnoser, sad sack, sucker, lily-livered, piss-poor, shirker. (I hope swearing isn't against forum rules if it's not directed towards anybody).

I wasn't thinking about minister traits, but there could be new ones as well.

Hehehe

Here are few

Chicken - More likely to retreat, lose defense
Clubfooted - unit movement speed on map reduced by 0.0001%
Crusader- More likely to make breakthroughs on desert terrain
Ugly - More likely to be replaced with someone else by human player
Dwarf - Defense bonus in fortresses (Maginot line)

Dumb Rarely makes decisions, and the ones that do have a major negative impact
Pacifist Doesn't support war
Scientist Research is done faster

Disciplinarian -- gives a small boost to org
Drill Master -- gives a small boost morale

I would like to see a skill against partisans.
E.g. a general with such a skill could reduce partisan activity in a province.
And when u need a name;
peacekeeper - reduces partisan activity.

But all in all i think HoI dont need more skills because with more skills the skill effects would be too specific and
would be boring because with too much skills u would spend a lot of time just in search a perfect skilled general
for a single combat situation... that too much mirco management...

Chicken farmer: -1000% Experience gain and -50% morale/organization.

Reducing partisan activity as nothing to do with peacekeeping, the ministers trait that does that is indeed called "prince of terror". The politically correct word is counter insurgency.
