Maybe optional Zulu tribal kingdom
The Zulu didn't exist as anything close to a cohesive nation until the 19th century.
Maybe optional Zulu tribal kingdom
Also, Florence should perhaps start as a Republican Dictatorship under Cosimo de' Medici, as the Republic was already dying politically at this stage, but the Medicis hadn't yet got themselves installed as legitimate hereditary dukes. (Dictatorship also offers an interesting starting choice for the player: do you pull back from the brink and try to restore the old republic, or do you let a monarchy become established?) Actually, I wonder if Florence is the country Paradox had in mind when they came up with the 'republic devolves into monarchy' mechanics.
There could also be the option of a middle ground using Dutch Republic mechanics, where you have a 'Medici' faction and a 'signoria' faction.
There are still no Polynesian cultures or nations. Maybe Aotearoa or Hawai'i.
Playing Hawai'i would be one of the most thankless starting positions ever :/. I guess you could give them a tech group that lets them attack others, but you'd have to give them vision too or it's a game of "sit there for decades".
Technically speaking France could just start with a modifier that allows it + to Dip Rel until it no longer has any of X vassals (X being the vassals it starts with), or until a certain date to avoid France sitting on one vassal or some such stupidness.
There should be also event features Leonardo de Vinci and 'Pacci' and 'Medici' factions. When Leonardo finds the book of leaves, you can annex any country on earth and become have tech 32 on everything. hahaha![]()
Italy:
Most Serene Republic of Lucca
Margraviate of Montferrat (vassal of Savoy)
Margraviate of Salucco (vassal of Savoy)
In principle, Desmond should be a vassal of England. In practice, I'm not sure. Can vassals make war on each other? Desmond and Ormond were in constant conflict IRL.Ireland:
