For Japan it should be a good collection of Taiko (Big drum music) it is really good for combat. We used a manga/taiko for a kendo show that where a adrenalin kicker

Lies... With Japan you need to go with enka. Preferebly with bit more dated pieces. Or at least with pieces that sound bit dated.

For tha same reason you go with jazz with western powers (well, not the autocratic ones).

iirc the music mod from DMP had a good mixture of songs and marches from many countries and that specific time period. actually i play a hoi2 game as republican spain with a slightly modified smep/daim mod combination and listen to the songs from the "spanien36-39" cd from Ernst Busch with songs like the riego-hymn or the ballad of the 11th brigade. those would be my first choice for hoi3, too.

I mostly prefer silence. If it isn't silence, it's the original HoI soundtrack. That, or Jethro Tull strangely enough.

I've imported the music from HOI1 & 2, CK, EU, and Ricky into my itunes; and while I sometimes listen to that, I often play for long stretches, and don't like to listen to the same thing, so I usually just start a random queue that classical, or classical/jazz, or punk/funk fusion, depending on my mood, the hour of play (I prefer classical & jazz at night and punk in the daylight) and the country I'm playing.

However, after a few gameplays it could get boring.

I'd put in some great classical music (Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, but pieces made by modern composeurs too)

When I would be playing Hungary, I would prepare some Hungarian music from the 20's, 30's and 40's.

Regarding newer music, Sabaton is the way to go!
Also, a few Iron Maiden (Aces high...) and Hun. national rock songs
