The title says it all.

CK2 is a very moddable game, and CK2Plus is one of the finest available. However, due to it's size and scale, it really isn't compatible with other many other mods. There are a couple of mods in particular that I wanted to try and make compatible, and after a little bit of tweaking I found I could get them working with CK2Plus. So I wanted to do a quick check to see if there are any mods you would like to see made compatible (don't say HIP, not happening or really possible).

Before requesting, please check to see if CK2Plus already does what the mod in question does, or something similar. For example, I won't be doing Ruler Designer Unlocked, because Plus already has similar functionality built in.

Also, if any of the CK2Plus devs read this, what are some things I should keep in mind when making a mod compatible with Plus? Any thing I should or shouldn't do?

I am no Plus dev, but what do you mean by this: Things you should avoid because they could anger the mod devs, or things you should avoid because they produce bugs?
About the latter I know a few things from experience, about the former I can only guess ^^

I was actually hoping to hear from you specifically because I was interested in knowing whether you planned on continuing with that (I was using the CPRplus compatibility mod until Monks and Mystics came out)

I've noticed that Heretic Pride and Ancient Religions Reborn have some new features that aren't in Plus yet.

They also have brand new bugs and errors

EDIT: to be on-topic, I would like, even though it's completely redundant in Plus, that RDU was made compatible. So I no longer have to read post that claim that "RDU worked fine before, how dare you ruin it?"

No, not really. RDU is just a bit more cheaty. So you can have characters with insane attributes.
In Plus you also get Assume Dynasty decision, Minority Culture trait, and if you play as Aztec on the Atlantic coast you can play the Aztec Invasion.

The difference is that plus traits have a cost in RD, while RDU traits don't. All in all, that doesn't really add up to much.

Oh and I don't think you can make an immortal character if I recall correctly. But that could be fixed easily without changing the whole mod.

Well, then on the first part I would summon @vukica back to give a statement - in case he wants to give one. Though if I recall correctly I never asked one of the Plus devs for their permission (or did I? frankly I don't remember), and since I didn't get an angry PM (yet), I assume they are generally open to new submods.

Yeah, it really bugs me that I haven't gotten around to doing that still - honestly, it is probably still a few months away, because I am insanely short on time right now. Stupid real-life.
Though I had times like this before, so I am 100% sure I will return to modding at some point.

In the meantime, if you want to have a go at it, go ahead if you want. I would not mind you publishing a CPRplus compatch while I can't, and also beyond if you want.
Frankly part of the problem is that I had already begun changing CPRplus more to my liking with the later compatches, which made updating them more time consuming. And now I have even more plans, delaying me further ^^. Though without enough time I would not even manage a "direct" compatch currently - which would be a bit easier to do.

So yeah, if you want to compatch the latest CPRplus, I would not mind - after all, I don't own stuff on it or Plus. Just make sure to ask sifsilver for permission!

I'd love to take a crack at it. I haven't looked much at the CPRplus files yet, so if you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them. And yeah my plan is to check with the devs of any mod I plan on com-patching before doing any major work on it.

I'd love to take a crack at it. I haven't looked much at the CPRplus files yet, so if you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them. And yeah my plan is to check with the devs of any mod I plan on com-patching before doing any major work on it.

I would actually suggest you take a look at my old files, to give you an idea on what things you need to change. You can of course figure it out yourself, but it might save you time ;)
The old version is still floating around here.
Since then, iirc some more files now need editing, and I started working on that before I was hampered, so I might have them somewhere on my disc... would need to look them up.
Anyway, keep in mind that quite a few of the things I did are actually unnecessary for straight compatibility (e.g. the changed portrait backgrounds), so you need not worry about them. But it should give you an idea what files you might need.


Edit: Found the file I was referring to. It is 00_religious_titles.txt (in /common/religious_titles), that one was not needed in earlier versions but now is. There might still be other things, of course, but those would be for you to find ^^
Also, I would recommend a comparison software such as KDiff3, so you don't have to search for differences in the files by hand. Be careful with the "auto-merge" function though, as I have found it to produce bugs, since sometimes you can't simply "merge" stuff, but need to think about what to keep from each side. It's incredibly useful for highlighting differences, still.

I'll check out your previous version. And thanks for the recommendation. I've been using WinMerge, which has been serving me well for mod merging so far.

You DO know you can be a walking paragon of awesome with regular Plus right? The negative age modifier traits in the ruler designer stack.

If I may interject, while CK2Plus by itself have a much more open ruler designer, there are still a few limitations. There are a few traits that CK2Plus doesn't allow in the designer (most notably the Immortal trait) that RDU did include. It also has options to customize the amount of gold you start with, and allows for starting with event troops. And you can be a horse. So while there is a large overlap in functionality, there are some holes that an RDU compatch would fill.

That would be difficult.
Problem is that Your Personal Castle itself is severely outdated, which is much more problematic than pure compatibility in this case. IIRC YPC even used to be compatible, but since you can't even use it with vanilla anymore, you can't use it with Plus either.
