What MODS do you suggest?

So as a new HoI player (Playing HoI2 until HoI3 is fixed), which MODS would you recommend, or suggest right out of the box?

I prefer DAIM and SKIF. DAIM gives a big boost to the AI and SKIF has some nice unit icons.

It really depends on what you like. There is a mod that lets you start in 1934 and other has an alternate history where Germany won WW1.

There is a lot of difference between the various grand mods out there, so you'll have to decide for yourself.

Ahistorical but fun: Kaiserreich
Very realistic but perhaps overwhelming for a newbie: C.O.R.E.
Very difficult with more realistic battles, but definately too hard for a newbie: WiF
Much expanded timeline with lots of events but poorly translated: Mod33
Only AI modifications, not compatible with some of the above mods: DAIM
Only event modifications and not compatible wit the above: SMEP
Great mod but only focussing on China: CCIP
Only graphic changed: GIP and SKIF

There are some more, but I will let others add to that.

The DAIM mod sounds nice. Improving the AI doesnt seem like a bad idea. Smarter AI is usually a plus in any game. I may give that a shot.

Now I am confused. I bought the Complete Pack on steam and when I launch I can choose to launch HoI2 Complete Pack, or HoI2 Armageddon. I normally launch Armageddon thinking it has more to offer.

Now when I go to look for an appropriate version of DAIM, I dunno which one to get

In the top right corner of my Main menu it says: Doomsday Armageddon 1.2

EDIT: Ok I think I got it, but is there anywhere on the main menu or in the game that indicates that DAIM is running? so I know that its working properly?

No, but it's not difficult to install. You can't do anything wrong really.

Ok Downloaded and installed DAIM, should be great. Big problem with SKIF though, as their graphics (with one exception), will not run on HOI2, only DD/ARMA. I do not want to play DD/ARMA or any other mod that radically alters the game. Does GIP have graphics for HOI2 1.3b + DAIM? Where can I DL those if it does?

DAIM makes the AI more competitive but doesn't produce historically realistic outcomes: Japan conquers Nat. China every time, USSR has 600+ divisions in 1941 and so forth.

Wow, I am not sure I should have installed it then. 600 division? Does the AI actually have to supply these divisions or does it cheat on supplies?

OK I pulled all of the files GIP made in the mysterious Doomsday folder and moved them into my main HOI2 directory where I slected all the merge/overwrite options in the move dialog. Upon completion I noticed that this gave me a new start up graphic, but as far as I can tell, thats it. I tested with Germany and 1936 scenario. I opened different units stacks (ground, air, navy) and in the list view on the left side of the screen the units look the same as they do in vanilla. Are these supposed to have new graphics? As far as the startegic map view, the sprites look largely the same as vanilla, so I cannot necessarily tell there either. What graphics exactly is this pack supposed to have given me? I leave on military duty tomorrow and will lose my internet connection, so prompt guidance is appreciated. Thanks.

Hmmm... Looks like I stumped the community or they are all busy testing HOI3.
