So there are a lot of Merc units in Battletech lore. I am curious, if your merc pilot could join a unit or is there a unit you would most model your own unit after.

For me it would be the 17th Recon Regiment otherwise known as Camacho's Caballeros. This is not a unit most think of when they think of Battletech but I find them very interesting. They have a ton of character and their style just to me feels like what a small Merc company would be like.

Not sure if I have the personality to be a Caballero.

For me, my first choice would be the Northwind Highlanders. Already have a kilt, so I'm good to go.

Wolf's Dragoons has always been my favorite, but as a Buckaroo Banzai fan Team Banzai definitely comes in a close second.

For third slot? Probably a tie between the Fox's Teeth(McKinnon's Company) or the Kell Hounds.

Honestly there are tons of interesting units out there it's almost hard narrowing them all down into just a top three, let a lone a single one.

In answer to both questions, Grim Determination (even if they are Davion patsies :p ) there is nothing like digging in and pounding your enemy while they try to advance. And then having the gall to refuse to surrender and bringing a fourth battalion into the fray when you're running out of mechs. Their logo is cool too.

When it comes to Mercs, I'd prefer to make my own. If it's a story, I would not mind reading the famous exploits of one. But, if given the choice I'd rather write my own ending with my own heroes.

I've always liked (in no particular order) Kell Hounds, Northwind Highlanders, ELH, Blue Star Irregulars. The Dragoons are cool and all, but I'd fit in better as a Snord's Irregular.

I've always been a fan of the adventures and misadventures of Snord's Irregulars.

I think a lot of people here are big fans of history (due to the settings of all Paradox's own games) and would totally be on board with the Irregulars mission.

Ignoring the famous ones like Eridani Light Horse and Wolf's Dragoons, I think the Lone Wolves regiment draws me in the most. So many possibilities and story arcs to be had with such a merc unit as the Lone Wolves. They really epitomize the pack mentality as they are a hodgepodge of small periphery based mercenary units. A real mixed bag of misfits and renegades. They are headed by an elite mech company known as The Committee, which handles all contracts. In 3025, they are veteran in status and consist of 17 smaller units, in addition to The Committee. They participated in the Galtor Campaign on the side of the Federated Suns, fighting well and fiercely, especially in the defense of New Derry.

Other 3025 choices would be Cranston Snord's Irregulars or Richard's Panzer Brigade as well as fast raiding style units like Hsien Hotheads and Mobile Fire.
