I always see Romania stop guaranteing the Balkan countries when they become fascist. But why do they do that? Do they do that because they are fascists, or because of some focus?

Playing as Germany, I'm thinking about picking the focus Aling Romania, so that Romania stops guaranteing before, so that there is time for Yugoslavia and Greece to accept when I do their Fate Of focuses before the Italian attack on Greece. Otherwise I have to pick Fate Of Yugoslavia too soon or Fate Of Greece too late.

i play lots of semi-historical germany,
is possible annex yugoslavia via focus on 1939. for some reason in 39, theyre more prone to accept annexation/focus without resist.
i maintain a notebook with dates i pick focuses.;
18/October/1939 - First Ljubljana Award.
27/December/1939 - Fate of Yugoslavia.

You don't have to do the Ljubljana Award nor reclaim Slovenia if you get a non agresion pact with Yugoslavia. You bypass those two focuses.

It's not necessary as Germany to do Fate of Yugoslavia/Greece. You can win WW2 without it perfectly fine and it's a waste of focus time since you start ww2 and conquer Poland and France slower. I don't know if it's possible since the world tension rework, but you can spike tension as Germany, disband the Axis, and invite Romania to create a new faction. Romania being in your faction will bypass the "align Romania" focus and save you 70 days if all you care about is integrating war economies. Likewise, splitting Czechoslovakia with Hungary instead of setting up a puppet Slovakia or taking it all yourself will put Hungary into the Axis, letting you integrate war economies pretty early.

Theres a weird path you can take as Germany where you can take almost all of europe other than France, belgium and lux and never actually go to war with the Allies. Its kind of crazy how much free territory you can get away with.

The trick is to justify war against Poland and the Dutch East Indies early before the UK gets guarantee obsessive. The your foci either get you free land, or a decision to declare war on them when they deny you before the UK or France has a chance of making guarentees. Its surprisingly powerful if you just want to take on the Soviets.

Well, I tried this a while ago, maybe patches changed how this goes down.

I mean, that works, but it's basically exploiting the game as far as how much it breaks it in half. Not something I prefer to do in a historical game for immersion reasons, and it's banned in MP.

Everything is banned in multiplayer games lol

I mean sure I agree with you but like 95% of this game is super unhistorical, including most the achievements for it.

your best bet is to rush alling romania so by the time you go for the two focuses about yugo and greece, they should have enough fascist support to decide and go for the focus that make them loose all of the guarantees.

They pick that focus depending on how fascist they are? It's not because they always follow the same order?
