What makes food income decrease?

I've noticed that, at one point, my food income was 400+. Couple years of playing and it went down to 300+. I have no idea what caused that, because the tooltip doesn't tell me anything. Is it, more colony = lesser production?

Also, along with consumer goods upkeep for minerals, there should be some upkeep for food as well. Pop = food upkeep.

Revenue - expenses = profit.

Food produced - food consumed = food income.

Pops already require a food upkeep. Presumably, that's what caused your food surplus to decline.

But food upkeep is not represented. That's why I wanted to know this.

What? Each POP consumes 1 food per month, right?
